"Asterix and the Laurel Wreath" isn't as pun-oriented as the typical Asterix outing, but the plot itself is very funny. Chief Vitalstatistix and his wife, accompanied by retainers Asterix and Obelix, are visiting the Lutetian home of Impedimenta's brother, Homeopathix. Vitalstatistix hates his braggart brother-in-law, and after too many cups of wine at dinner he invites Homeopathix to his village for a meal of stew seasoned with Caesar's laurel wreath! This means, of course, that Asterix and Obelix are off to get a hold of the wreath, somehow. What follows is a delightful series of episodes as Asterix gets Obelix and himself sold into slavery in Rome, in order to get into Caesar's palace. Yet, it seems that, whatever they do, they can't get anywhere near Caesar and his laurel wreath. The crazy characters they meet add to the delight of this very amusing story, a story told very economically. Even though it's a bit different from the rest, I think "Asterix and the Laurel Wreath" is one of the best of the series. It's just a lot of fun!
