"That Rare Beast: A Superior Page-Turner That Manages To Pull At Your Heart." --David Baldacci

The Brightons are just an ordinary, small-town, law-abiding family. Until somebody else's mistake uncovers the truth--Jake and Carolyn Brighton are the FBI's two most wanted fugitives. Jake and Carolyn have lived a lie for fourteen years to protect themselves. But now they have to protect their thirteen-year-old son, Travis. Their only chance is to return to the hellish scene of an unprecedented crime, and collect the evidence that may finally set them free--if they can elude a massive manhunt long enough to get there.

"A Flat-Out, In-Your-Face Thrill Ride, Filled With Unexpected Twists, Sinister Turns, Clever Plotting, And Top-Drawer Writing. Gilstrap's Characters Are Wonderfully Sketched And His Dialogue Is Rich With The Language Of Real People. At All Costs Demands To Be Read. At Any Price." --Lorenzo Carcaterra

"Heart-Pounding." --Tess Gerritsen

Like all John Gilstrap books, At All Costs grabs you from page one and doesn't let go. In the opening chapter, the reader is thrust into the lives of Jake and Carolyn; normal everyday people with normal everyday jobs, a son and a home, until one incident sends them fleeing for their lives, on the run from the police and FBI. By chapter two, we find out the couple hold the number one spot on the FBI's Top Ten Most Wanted list. They have been in hiding for the last 12 years and don't intend to give that up now. Enter Irene Rivers from the Jonathan Graves series. As FBI agent in charge of bringing Jake and Carolyn in, she must not only save her reputation by capturing Jake and Carolyn, but unravel the question of if they are really guilty. As a huge fan of John Gilstrap, I was thrilled to read the story of how Irene Rivers got to the top of the FBI. This is a woman who demands her own series. She is tough, capable, smart and tender all at the same time. I'd love to read more of her story. If you are a Gilstrap fan, you will love At All Costs. If not, you will be after reading this. This is definitely movie material.........A high level governent agent is about to be caught dealing dangerous weapon to foriegn agents. He tries to cover it up, killing anumber of innocent people. Unfortunately, for him, not all died and the two that did not die have been on the run for number of years until something unexpected happened. Hard to read because at times the drama was so intense but, at the same time, it was difficult to put down for the same reason.

Can't get enough John Gilstrap.  I've read all in his Jonathan Grave series & while waiting for next release of Soft Targets (Oct 1st), bought At All Costs.  Gilstrap never disappoints!  Can't put any of his books down. Each book has you reading faster & faster to find out what happens next. Thrilling, to say the least. My favorite author. Gilstrap will become your favorite too, if he isn't already.

I love this author! The characters are well developed and realistic, logical thinking throughout. The ingenuity the characters utilized in the book was sheer genius. I couldn't put this down until the end! Quite a testament to this author. I will definitely buy more books by him. Thanks for a great read!

This was the first John Gilstrap novel I have read, and I was glad that I picked this one up. The story is an edge-of-your-seat thrill ride from page 1. The Donovans are like any American family, and it's scary to think of these consequences happening to anyone. But it's this concept that Gilstrap uses to write a magnificent story. There are many dangers and twists in the story to hold everyone's interest. I recommend this book for everyone that wants to read a well written exciting story. I'll definitely keep Gilstrap on my 'To Read' list.

Although the author is guilty of adding "filler" and repeating to fill pages, his plots are well worth a little tidium.
