The name has been out there for decades. Caught a performance of Nick lowe in Leonard Cohen's film, "I'm Your Man." and was astounded by the cool bravado and that awesome voice. This is a "country" album if you need to categorize. Not that disposable thump, thump, da-da-da crap called Nashville "country." There is a soulfulness to all the songs. They resonate with sincere emotions. You are not bomabrded with drums telling you, "This is the stupid chorus, sing along." I hate that crap. My favorite cut is "A Better Man." There is not a weak cut here. If you only listen to Nashville style radio you would miss out on the real deal. This guy has more talent, verve, and plain musicianship than a hundred "Music City" pickers.
