At the Lord's Table: Communion Prayers for All Seasons by Douglas Skinner

Following the advice of Alexander Campbell to steep prayers in scripture, author Douglas Skinner anchors this collection of nearly 200 prayers with biblical references. Prayers for the bread and for the cup are linked with special Sundays, church seasons, hymns, special occasions, and communion themes.
Whether you are nervous about praying in public or experienced and confident, these inspired prayers from a respected pastor will resound in the hearts and mind of the congregation as they come to The Table in humility and celebration. For praying aloud or for personal meditation as you prepare to lead in worship, this book of "prayed theology" will encourage its users to expand their vocabularies and their imaginations as they offer prayers at the communion table.

I just received my copy. It is not a very big book, but what is inside is very helpful. As a serving Elder I wish that I a copy of this when I first started serving. The book goes into the history of communion for Disciples of Christ members including thoughts of Alexander Campbell's idea of the basics of what communion represents. The book has communion prayers for both those serving on both the "Bread" and "Wine" side of the Communion Table. There are prayer base on the different special days and seasons of the church, communion hy0mms, and specials occasions. I believe that this book will be a great addition not only to my prayer life, but an excellent resource for new prayers as I serve at the table. I It is a book that both the novice would recommend for both the novice and the experienced Elder.
