At the Movies

At the Movies

by Rod McKuen

CD

Overview

At the Movies collects 21 songs that appeared in various films between the late '50s and '70s (although, to be accurate, one song was merely "inspired" by a film), including some previously unreleased recordings. Several tracks are instrumental, and the vocal numbers range from the ragtimey "And How" to the hushed "The Ivy That Clings to the Wall." One of the most interesting selections is "To Know You Is to Love You," a 1958 duet with Molly Bee (of "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" fame). Few of McKuen's best or best-known songs are included, which makes At the Movies a package for true fans.
