I purchased this book originally in 1981 IN ATLANTIC CITY while on vacation. I have read it every year just before summer begins 'to get in the mood' It's got suntan oil stains, dog eared pages and have passed it around to umpteen people that remember A.C.and the way it 'used to be'. I went there as a child in the 60's and now go to gamble. Going 'down the shore', a term people in around New Jersey, Philadelphia and it's suburbs use to describe seashore resorts, was a trip to Utopia, my version of Ft. Lauderdale Spring break. Dancing on Steel Pier in the ballroom at a dance hosted by Dick Clark, walking over yards and yards of hot sand to the the salty water. The people, thousands on the Boardwalk, the diving horse, the salt water taffy..it was heaven for a kid from a Philly suburb. It's old and it's new and I still love it. The book is loaded with great pictures, and just enough text to make it a fun little history book. It's well worth it. I just might have to buy a newer copy!
