About the Author
Aubrey Beardsley (1872–1898) was an illustrator, author, and a leading figure in the Aesthetic movement whose figures included Oscar Wilde and James Abbott Whistler. Robert Ross (1869–1918) was a journalist and critic in the circle of Oscar Wilde, whose literary executor he became. He energetically promoted Beardsley.
