A wonderful story centered around two teenage boys and the world they find themselves suddenly a major part of. With wizards, genies, Greek gods, mythical beasts, and creatures not told of in any other story what's not to love? Set in both a world of magic besieged by a generations long war and our own planet, I loved the mix of fantasy and reality. The story seemed familiar and new at the same time and defiantly left me thirsting for the rest of the series. With the exception of one very brief PG-13 moment, The Auslesen Seven is a great read for adults and teens/pre-teens alike and would be enjoyed by any fantasy fan.

I am not a fan of fantasy at all. I have never been able to attach myself to worlds occupied by Wizards and Elves and such which is why I was so surprised with how much I enjoyed this book. I don't believe it is a masterpiece but it has the footprint of a unique new voice and I am eager to continue reading Zachary Schmitz's work so I can see him grow and evolve as an author.

I got Schmitz's book when it first came out only through his publisher. It's a great read taking place between this universe and the next. There's a great NEW look at the way genies are made, but I'm not going to spoil it for you. I'll admit that when I first started reading it, it kind of reminded me of Harry Potter, but then after getting four chapters in, I realized that it wasn't anything like Harry Potter at all. I realy enjoyed the use of Greek mythology and the explenation he comes up with for strange things that happen in this world. I cant' wait until the second one comes out.
