Open and honest. Kim Bady talks about media-induced and self-imposed pressures to "keep up with someone else's reality". While I don't put pressure on myself to meet the expectations of others, I can relate to how others can place far too much value on their influence in my life, and overestimate my level of concern or awareness about what they expect from me. She gives an inside out view on her childhood traumas, divorce from a pastor, feelings of failure, disappointment, embarrassment, and low self-esteem, and even thoughts of suicide; and shares how she deals with these experiences to discover her authenticity and become the purposeful woman God is calling her to be. Authentically Me is a book for all women regardless of race, background, education, status, or age, who will undeniably be able to identify with at least one of the "seasons" Kim describes in her book. Kim Bady offers powerful testimonies that will empower, encourage healing, and challenge you to determine "who and whose you are" and abandon who "they" expect you to be. The book is uplifting and liberating, includes thought-provoking exercises, yet it's easy to read. You will be inspired by her courage, and move towards understanding and accepting the many facets of you.
