As a kid I started watching NFL films back in the early 1970's and besides the highlights and narration of the great John Facenda, I always enjoyed the music. I was the only kid (unlike the reviewer below) walking around humming that music. I drove my mom and Brothers crazy with those tunes. Then, 30+ years later I found my self humming that music, at work at home in teh mall. For no reason. Later, I got the power and the glory, it had half of the good stuff. Then came autumn thunder, it makes me laugh out loud to listen to this. I love IT! I really LOVE IT! It makes me want to run in slow motion and tackle my 4 year old son!

I started watching nfl films back in the early 1970's and besides the highlights and narration of the great John Facenda, I always enjoyed the music. I must have been the only kid walking around humming that music. I drove my mom and sisters crazy with those tunes. I use to dream of the day that i would be able to get the music and jam to it myself. In 1993 I purchased three albums from nfl films and I was soooo happy, but then i realized that not all of the best tunes were there. Then came the power and the glory with the Facenda clips and some tunes that werent on my albums....it was good but not what i wanted. Then last sunday morning while watching the nfl network i saw it....AUTUMN THUNDER 40 YEARS OF NFL FILMS MUSIC AND FOLKS THIS IS THE CD I HAVE DREAMED OF. THANKS TO ED AND STEVE SABOL FOR RELEASING THIS CD AND THANKS TO SAM SPENCE AND COMPANY FOR MAKING SUCH FINE MUSIC. This music really makes me feel good when i have a bad day. I was laid off recently and whenever I feel bad, I listen to this music and i feel better. NFL FILMS SHOULD ONLY USE THIS MUSIC IN THEIR CURRENT FILMS....THE NEW MUSIC STINKS, BUT THE MUSIC OF 1969-1979 IS TRULY THE BEST EVER. ENJOY THIS CLASSIC CD....GRAMMY VOTE FROM ME

As a true aficionado of NFL Films Music, this boxed set turned out to be extremely underwhelming. There are classics in here, to be sure, but the very best tracks could easily fit onto 2 CDs (comprising perhaps 90-100 minutes of total music). There is virtually nothing of note after Disc 6, and some tracks sound like embarassing rip-offs of Copland, Respighi, and other early 20th century classical composers. If you go to YouTube & stumble upon old network halftime highlight shows from the mid-70s to the early 80s(generally with Brent Musburger calling the action) you might hear a few seconds of some of the many "missing tracks" that were left out of Autumn Thunder. I don't know if Sam Spence composed most of the network NFL music from that era, but a lot of Spence's music made it onto the prime time network coverage (and not just Steve Sabol's films). If there is ever an Autumn Thunder II, with music culled from the era of about 1976-1982, I'd pay a king's ransom for that boxed set.

I have been waiting for this set since they came out with the first one. All I have to say is CD #5 by itself is worth the price!!!!!!!!!

The best part of Power and Glory was the audio voice clips from Jon Facenda...This disk set has none of that..The music is good...but the disk set would have been much, much better if it included the awesome, inspiring narrator clips.
