In Sam Mallin's experience, the word family is synonymous with abandonment; he's more than content on his own. Yet, in less than a week, he finds himself caring for an infant dropped on his doorstep, and playing house with his beautiful next-door-neighbor. When his feelings for Nikki deepen, he fears he's nothing more than the ready-made family she so desperately wishes for. How can a self-proclaimed loner hold onto the two females most important to him without history repeating itself in a world of heartbreak?
He swung the door open and smiled his welcome at the pretty blond. His gaze dropped, then froze. Where he would've preferred a pie, she held a baby carrier-complete with baby. Damn, she had a kid. After what his mother put him and his sister through, he didn't do women with kids.
He lifted his gaze up from all that pink to a pair of guarded blue eyes. Forcing his lips to maintain their upward curve, he answered, "I prefer Sam. And you're Nicole, right?"
"Nikki." She frowned. "How'd you-"
"I had some of your mail in my box yesterday," he admitted.
Her wry smile was appealing enough to make him forget about the baby. But it faded fast as she took a breath, shifted her stance, then extended her arms, carrier and all.
"Sam, this is yours."
There was a crumpled envelope clutched between the fingers of her right hand. Tilting his head, he read his name in the crinkled address field and removed it from her grasp with a laugh. He liked that she'd chosen to bring his mail over personally. If he'd been thinking, he'd have done it first-and found out about the kid.
"Thanks," he said as her baby began to fuss. "I just put your stuff in your mailbox."
Nikki lifted the carrier higher with an exasperated huff. "You don't understand. She is yours."
In the middle of stuffing the folded envelope into his back pocket, his gaze dropped to the baby. Blue eyes, just like her momma. It took his brain a moment to make the connection, and then his pulse jumped as his eyebrows shot skyward.
"Uh...I don't think so."
The baby sucked hard on a pacifier, her eyes shifting back and forth as she squirmed in the confined seat. Oh, hell no. He lifted his gaze once more, taking note of the woman's curves on the way up. Yeah, she was pretty, but not worth this level of crazy. He'd have much preferred another pie.
"May I come in?"
"No," he stated. "She's not mine."
He fumbled for the edge of the door. The woman stepped forward as he began to shut her out.
Her chin lifted and those blue eyes of hers glittered with determination. "Her name is Ella. She's three and a half months old."
He broke off as she shouldered her way past, into his living room. Sam closed the door and followed her to the couch where she set the carrier and an overflowing diaper bag. He glanced toward the kitchen, searching out his cell phone on the counter. Was he going to have to call the cops to get rid of her?

like others, I received this book directly from the author. I was asked to leave a review. I have read most of the redemption series and this one does not disappoint. nikki, sam and ella are wonderful! reading about the relationship building, and the ups and downs made my heart swell. more, more, more! and soon! thank you so much and i can not eait to return to redemption!r
I recieved this book from Stacey to read and review. Honestly, I not only loved this book, but the whole series! Book 4 is about Sam Mallin, confirmed bachelor, not wanting to be tied down and Nikki Rowan (Marrissa's sister from book 1). Nikki is a day -care worker who wants marriage and children. Sam does not. They had their eye on each other without actually meeting until their mail got mixed up and Nikki decided that was a good reason for an introduction. Wow, was she surprised when she found a baby bundled up on Sam's porch with him not home. Sam is getting a crash course in child rearing and Nikki can't and doesn't want to stay away. There's chemistry between the two and her ex doesn't like it. The other characters from previous books join in (which I love the fact that they're not forgotten from book to book). Very interesting ending, my heart was in my throat. Excellent story!
I received this free from the author in exchange for a honest review. I absolutely LOVED it. It was well written, the story line was good. I laughed at some of it,felt my heart clench in other places. I love all of the books I have read by Stacey Joy Netzel, she never disappoints me. Sam and Nikki are neighbors who bond and fall in love when she finds a baby on his doorstep. She teaches him how to take care of an infant and looses her heart to him. Nikki is coming off a bad break up and Sam offers to help make the ex jealous. Both Sam and Nikki have reservations about pretending because they both realize there is chemistry between them. I definitely reccomend this book.
I enjoyed the previous books in this series, the author is very skilled at building her characters - anyone who has read the "Welcome to Redemption" series that she wrote with Donna Marie Rogers would recognize both authors skills in that area. It is great to see the heroes of the previous books and their (growing) families as great supporting characters, without having them overwhelm the current story. What I especially loved about this book was that Sam and Nikki are "real" people with problems that many readers can actually relate to. Romantic fantasy is wonderful, but I am grateful to read a story with hard working people who worry about paying bills from time to time instead of the fantasy romance that has a billionaire as the hero. Those have their place, yet a steady diet is not for me! :) "I received this book free in exchange for an honest review."
This is a sweet and beautiful romance. I love the chemistry between Sam and Nikki. Ella was such a cute character. I look forward to reading more from Stacey Joy Netzel.
It was a refreshing story. Characters with independance and pride. A love story given time to grow. I will enjoy reading other books by the author.
I received this book from the author to read and post an honest review. All books I've read from Stacey, I have loved. I loved the story line and relationship of Nikki and Sam. I was hooked on this book from the first chapter and could not put it down. In fact, I stayed up late and finished the book the same night I started. I can't wait for more books on Redemption. Can't wait to see what happens next.
I received this book from the author to read and post an honest review. As with any book I've read from Stacey, I was not disappointed. I loved the story line and relationship of Nikki and Sam. I enjoyed the romance and glitches in the building of their relationship and it was great to see the families from the previous books. This was a wonderful book, and I definitely recommend it. One of the things I enjoy about Stacey's Romancing Wisconsin series is that all the families are written as real, not fake, fantasy families. You can relate to the ups and downs of the families she writes about. Definitely look forward reading more by Stacey!
