Prior to this book, I had not read any books by this talented author, and I now am a fan. I loved it. If like me , you have not read the previous two books, do not worry. It’s a stand alone. This stories centers around Detective Nick DiFrancesco , and Ashley O’Neil. These two met years ago and had a one stand night. Something neither had ever done. Ashley disappeared and Nick never saw her again. She’s back in Philly and accidentally runs into Nick. She has secrets she has keep from him, but realizes she must tell him what resulted from that encounter. Nick is now divorced , with two kids. Their chemistry is still there but trust has to be overcome. I loved the DiFrancesco family, who are loud , nosy and loving. What really drew me to the book , was the fact that it brings up issues of unwed pregnancies, and that experiences we have as a child will affect how we live as adults. That a sense of abandonment can create a lack of self-worth, that trust needs to be earned and that love can heal and make us whole. And let us not forget, that the families of individuals of law enforcement must be supportive . These dedicated individuals are faced with danger everyday, and deserve that support. Kudos to the author. I was gifted this copy. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
