At 5’2” Cara Devlin is used to being overlooked... until she speaks. It had been her sexy voice that had won her the voice-overs ads and it's her velvet tones that lands her the job as translator to the King of Ma’in—a job with a salary that will ensure she can leave Ma'in and make a fresh start. A new beginning away from the country where her soon-to-be ex-husband betrayed her, and her family, for his own gain. Just one more week in Ma’in and then she’ll be free to begin a new life.
Since his unfaithful wife died, King Tariq of Ma'in is devoted to three things: his children, his country and remaining single. When his brother hires him a translator he doesn't need, Tariq isn't impressed. But, when he hears Cara's seductive voice, he decides she can stay, providing she doesn't distract him from the most important meetings of his life where he intends to regain control of his country's wealth. But each day he discovers something new about Cara: qualities that break through the protective shell he'd built around himself, and language skills he can use to his own—and his country's—benefit. So long as Cara doesn't know she's being used, he should succeed.

Summary: The 4th installment of the Desert King is well worth the read! I thoroughly enjoyed books 1-3 of this series, but, I think that the characters of Prince Sahmir and Aurora de Chambery are my favorite so far. The Desert King Series is about a group of small countries in the Middle East with each country and its leaders being on friendly terms and become good friends. We learn about each of these leaders in each installment and books 3,4,5 is about the country Ma’in and three brothers. Book 3 is about King Tariq al-Fuhlan, the current installment, Book 4, Claimed by the Sheikh, is King Tariq’s brother Prince Sahmir al-Fuhlan, and the Book 5 is about Prince Daidan (out in September 2015). As the story begins, Prince Sahmir is in Paris, where he lives part time. We find out in Book 3, that he is raising funds for his country so that king Tariq does not have to renew a contract with foreign investors that are mining Gold in his country and have destroyed the land. Sahmir will be leaving Paris soon and become engaged to the arranged marriage in which the country his future bride and Sahmir’s countries will benefit from this reunion. As Sahmir is outside near his Paris home, a beautiful woman is running away from someone and almost runs into him. Sahmir finds out that Aurora is running from a Russian Mobster and Sahmir decides he is going to help her. Sahmir knows that he should not get involved, but he just had to help her. Aurora has just learned that her Father has lost the family beloved estate while playing cards with the Russian Mobster. The estate in the Principality of Roche, near Monaco and had been in the family for hundreds of years. The Russian is insisting that she sign over the estate “and” he planned on keeping her for himself. She knew that it was just a matter of time before the Russian guards found out that she had escaped and come after her. While Sahmir wanted to keep her at his home until he could sort things out, she refused to burden him with her problem. Sahmir took her to a small hotel in Paris; however, the Russian had bribed the hotel staff and captured her again. When Sahmir found out, he made a plan to play cards with the Russian and get Aurora. Sahmir never lost in a card game and he did win Aurora, however the Russian changed the rules and it was for one night only and at the hotel where the Russian was staying. In the middle of the night, Sahmir and Aurora escaped with the help of Sahmir's guards, and Sahmir took her to his country, Ma’in. As time went on, the attraction and feelings deepened, and it was hard not to act on their desires. However, they both knew that in a few days Sahmir would become engaged, so both held onto their principle and remained honorable. Finally, Sahmir and Aurora get their chance at love because the arranged marriage is no longer an issue. They are very content and in love, but, the Russian Mobster kidnaps her again and Sahmir rescues her again. Aurora assumes that Sahmir is like her father because he knew the Russian from his past. Aurora goes back home to her Estate that Sahmir has gotten it back from the Russian’s for her. After 3 months, Aurora realizes that she is not happy without Sahmir, but she knows that he has moved on because she pushed him away so forcefully. What will Aurora do? Should she tell Sahmir that she does love him? Will she tell him that there is a surprise that he is not aware of from their time together? Read and find out. I
