My small hand tightly in his;
Walking from where the water
Was deep over my chest
The waves buffeting
And drawing me under.
His strength sustaining, giving courage
His hand steadying.
Leading me back to shore.
Did he remember, always, as do I
The touch of my hand in his
As I, in turn, led my children from the deep water?
Does he still watch and remember
As I lead them to shore?
The poems in "Awakening" describe Aniket Pant's journey towards self realization - from the grief of loss to the joy of renewal. The photographs, taken over several years, reflect his vision of the layers of meaning and depth hidden in everyday scenes.
"Awakening" embodies the author's philosophy - that watchfulness, stillness of mind and compassion are essential companions in the voyage of discovery.
