Title: Baby Santa And The Lost Letters Author: Dr. M Maitland DeLand MD Publisher: Greenleaf Book Group Press Published: 10-1-2011 Pages: 36 ISBN: 9781608321940 Genre: Children's Fiction Tags: Myths and Legends, Holidays It is a week before Christmas and Santa has gone to the mailbox to pick up the last batch of letters from boy and girls to Santa so that he and the elves can make the last toys. They must start making them now so that they will be ready to be delivered Christmas Eve. When he finds the mailbox empty Baby Santa suggest they look everywhere to see if perhaps they were delivered to the wrong place. After a thorough search Prancer tells him he will send a message to his friends around the world to see if they were delivered to the wrong address. This is, as are all Dr. M Maitland DeLand's Baby Santa books, fascinating for the young with the lively prose and brilliant illustrations. Children will be fascinated with the different animals that Prancer's call reaches and their replies. My nieces and nephews became quite involved with the story and mimicked the actions of the different animals as the searched. Even if the letters can be found how will they returned to the North Pole in time for Santa and his elves to read them and make the toys for each sender. Children will be thrilled to read this story. It would make a wonderful Christmas present in itself.

The book is a short 36 page story full of adventure, wonder, excitement, and yes even education! This is the perfect book for story time and also a good way to introduce global geography to your little ones. The story literally takes you across continents! It's 2 weeks before Christmas and the last and biggest delivery of letters to Santa is missing! There is no way Santa and the elves can finish the Christmas presents for the children of the world on time, if the letters aren't found! It's okay though, Baby Santa has a wonderful idea! With Prancer's help, he gets, penguins, kangaroos, hippopotamuses, and other animals on a race around the world to find all the lost letter and save Christmas! My little monsters, who never sit still during story time, were motionless and speechless with excitement! After story time an entire discussion about Antarctica, and Africa and the other countries mentioned in the book ensued. It was marvelous! I can honestly say it was one of the best story times we had ever had. It was such a cute inspiring story and not only did my boys learn about the world, they also learned that working together as a team makes a situation much more bearable.
