Another cute Frances book; this time I'm struck by the patience and sweetness of her parents. They don't act surprised by Frances' actions, they don't overdramatize, they just quietly remind her and each other how vital Frances is to their family.

The Francis books are tender and sweetly drawn. They were all my daughter's favorites. Francis is not such a goody two-shoes that children can't identify. She struggles with the same issues they do. In this book it is the addition of a sibling.

I searched everywhere for a hardcover version of this book. It's a wonderful selection for a young child who has a new baby in the house, and it always gets a lot of use. Paperback is just not practical for this book.

I bought this for my granddaughter when she became a big sister. It is a delightful book and I recommend it for any child becoming an older sibling.

I got this book when my sister was born fifteen years ago and it was so great I'm getting for my other sister who is going to have a new baby in her life. It's a great story to show young children that they are still going to be loved even with the new addition to the family.

Frances is a bit jealous of her new baby sister, so she runs away (under the dining room table). There is a good lesson in this book for children about to become big brothers or sisters.
