Overview

Bach: Violin Concertos

Voted “Best Newcomer” by BBC Music Magazine in 2006 and acclaimed as “Artist of the Year” in the prestigious Classic FM Gramophone Awards only a year later, 25-year-old Julia Fischer is already being hailed as one of the truly great violinists of the 21st century.

Julia burst upon the international music scene at the 1995 Yehudi Menuhin Competition by taking first prize as well as a special prize for “Best Bach Solo Work.” It is only natural then that her Decca debut disc should feature Bach—this time the solo and double concertos. Julia is joined by the Academy of St Martin in the Fields in these strikingly sophisticated and technically brilliant performances. From the Label

Julia Fischer is Awesome. Her technique is flawless. Her tone exquisite. Her command of the rhythmic tempos truly a delight! The accompanying musicians are phenomenal!! A great interpreter of Bach Concertos. I bought this Cd on sale, but now it is being offered at an even lower price.I hope anyone wanting to listen to Bach concertos picks this up.It is worth every penny and more. It is worth more than it's 5 star rating!

An outstanding album. After listening to Julia Fischer's amazing performance, one can definitely appreciate Bach's outstanding genius as a writer and musician. Musical poetry to the ears! Serve it up with an early cup of coffee or prelude to bed time. Beautiful all day long. Oh, don't forget to stuff this CD in your pocket before taking a drive. You'll certainly want to play it in the car. My kids love it!

This CD got my attention as it was being played in the Barnes and Noble, whileI was perusing. I enjoy it in my car but I consider it backround music.

Do not miss this recording if you love Bach, and do not miss her performances in New York next year (Spring of 2010) at Carnegie Hall. She is a superb violinist with maturity far beyond her years.
