r. Cowgill takes a turn here, becoming more formal with the reader than he was in The Cranberry Trail. As a result, this book gives a refreshing feeling that an author is truly 'sharing' a story as opposed to simply telling a story. Kent is so good at doing this, that you feel like you are in the passenger seat the entire time he is jumping from Nebraska to France and back. Your appreciation of simple things like roads, streams, and life are heightened as a result of reading the words that have formed on what is turning out to be a great piece of work.
