What People are Saying About This

From the Publisher

"Levesque gives us so much: a wealth of information about the logging industry, insights into endangered species and the role they can play in developing new medicines, and even a romance—all wrapped up in a suspenseful, well-plotted environmental mystery. It’s also written from a Christian point of view and relevant to the real lives of twenty-first-century people, dealing with real doubts and dilemmas. This is an impressive book." -Linda Brinson, writer and editor; adjunct lecturer at UNC Chapel Hill School of Journalism and Mass Communication, NC

"Cynthia Levesque weaves a fictional tale, but one that bears truth about the greed, corruption, evil, goodness, kindness, and love found within human hearts. Her incredible story reminds us that we are caretakers of this gift called Planet Earth and shows us the Christian response to those who would harm God's gift—our home. I couldn't put this down." -Keith Vaughn, business manager and freelance writer, GA

This is a very well written and suspenseful book with unique characters and story line. The author does an excellent job of making everything seem so real and alive through her detailed descriptions of the characters, their places of work, the forest and the terrible greed that engulfed the CEO of the logging company. It gives great insight into the logging business and the effects it can have on the environment and endangered species. It also has a touch of romance and shows how their Christian faith helped the characters deal with very challenging and sorrowful events in their lives. I enjoyed reading it. A MUST READ!!

Backcut by Cynthia Soule Levesque is not a lighthearted easy read; instead you will find it to be a suspenseful, insightful and thought provoking adventure. It is filled with information about the logging industry and endangered species (frogs- for you frog lovers  ) It was a very interesting storyline about an endangered species having a role in a new medicine for a terminal illness. There was a small romance with the hint of a love triangle. Mixed in with all of this was a Christian message. Filled with plot twists and engaging characters. There were several characters in the book; I only had trouble distinguishing the two doctors for some reason. It was very easy to follow the other storylines. A must read for any avid suspense reader who is interested in the environment or the medicine process. This summer I read Backcut by Ms.Levesque. A story that takes you into the world of the logging industry. Her descriptions made it easy to visualize the wooded areas where dark things were happening. The main character is a young women who is forcing her way into a man's world. She brings her faith with her. I really enjoyed this book.

I couldn't put Cynthia Levesque's book down. It was a fast-paced read on three levels. First, it is a love story about a recent college graduate named Lisa lands who lands her dream job at a premier logging company in the Pacific Northwest. Second, she soon finds herself embroiled in a strange mystery involving an endangered frog that is also the study of medical researchers trying to cure a deadly children’s disease. Third, it is about the greedy side of people and corporations. The mystery finally comes to an end in an unexpected turn of events and, you can breathe again. The whole book is from a Christian worldview that gives insight into how Christians can live an abundant live while still falling short in some areas. Thanks Cynthia for using your knowledge of the forestry industry to entertain and educate.

Cynthia has written an intriguing story filled with suspense and romance, with an underling layer of Christian principles. Set in the Pacific Northwest, the story moves rapidly. I had a hard time putting the book down. Good read.

The author, Cynthia Levesque, gives us a truly inspirational novel. The story may be fiction, but the real issues of God and resources He has given us are very real. Her detail description of the logging industry helps us understand our environment and how it can be taken for granite. Excellent reading for those who like drama and mystery. Thanks Cynthia!

I just finished a debut novel by Cynthia Levesque entitled "Backcut". This novel has it all -- romance, intrigue, conflict, suspense ; interwoven  with faith-based references and environmental issues. The author masterfully relates legal treatment of endangered and threatened species when managing forestlands while exposing the  reader to the chilling finality of Niemann-Pick Type C disease. This is the book for those who not only enjoy a suspense novel with Christian Fiction tenants (no explicit sexual issues or bad grammar here) , but who want to learn about medical research and environmental concerns.
