It's wonderful to see this book back in print again. Antheil, besides being one of the most interesting composers of the last century, was a terrific writer and raconteur, and the outrageous stories in this book, about himself and others in his circle -- Stravinsky, Picasso, Joyce, etc. etc. -- provide an entertaining look into the amazing world of arts & letters that was Europe in the '20s. 2000 is his centennial year, and so there are lots of concerts and new recordings of his music (including the first recording of his original 'Ballet Mecanique') available. Celebrate his birthday with this great read!
