Chapter One

He'd told himself he wouldn't kiss her until she showed interest, and so maybe alarm couldn't be classified as such, but she wasn't smacking his hand away either.

"Houston ..." She licked her lips. "We have a problem."

His fingers stopped sliding across her cheekbone as Josie realized what she had said and giggled.

"I guess you've heard that one, before, huh?"

There was a bright sparkle in her eyes, so adorable that he couldn't bring himself to be annoyed the way he usually was when someone made an Apollo 13 reference. "Once or twice." Or a thousand times. He'd lost count.

Leaning forward, he kissed the corner of her mouth, then the other. A little gasp left her, but she didn't move away. Her lips were soft and moist from wetting them with her tongue, and they fell open as he brushed over her a third time. Right in the center, flush on her mouth with his.

Josie sighed, her mouth receptive to him, relaxed.

She tasted like apple juice, sweet and ripe, willing, and he fought to keep his eyes open and his hands off her body as he pulled back.

This wasn't what he had intended to do with her in here. He had meant to clear the air, make sure she didn't have a more serious problem than chronic klutziness. But he couldn't be sorry that he'd kissed her.

Nor did he feel sorry for what he was about to propose.

"The problem, Josie, is that you're driving me crazy."

"I am?" She shook her head, flustered, eyes unfocused. "Oh, right, with all the dropping and the tripping. I don't mean to, you know, it just happens."

"That's not what I meant." He buried his nose in her hair by her ear and breathed in deeply. Strawberries. Damn. She was practically a fruit farm.

"I meant you're driving me crazy because I want you."

"Want me?" Her breath hitched, and he felt goosebumps rising on her jaw and neck, but she still didn't pull away. "Want me for what?"

That she could even say that, so innocently, made him hard.

"I want you for this." He plunged his hand into her short hair, drew her flush up against him, and gave her a real kiss. A lip-sliding, mouth-open, tongue-tasting kiss that had them both panting and wide-eyed.

"Oh," she said, looking up at him before darting her eyes over to the closed door to the hallway.

He could hear the standard hustle-and-bustle, voices carrying down the hall as business went on as usual in the hospital. This was risky, inappropriate, and he was still new on staff. He should care that someone could walk in at any second, but he didn't.

"Are you serious?" she asked.

Seriously out of his mind with lust. "Very. I'm attracted to you, Josie, and we need to discuss what we're going to do about it."

Josie gave an awkward laugh. "I thought you couldn't stand me."

Had she just missed the kiss he'd given her? "Hardly. Now tell me that you're attracted to me, too." So he could lean her against that door to prevent a possible interruption and kiss her again.

Josie worried her bottom lip with her teeth than gave another heartfelt sigh. "Okay, here's the thing. I am something of a klutz, but I've never been this bad before and it's all your fault."

Her fingers gripped his shirt and pushed him lightly to emphasize her point. "I feel like you're always watching, waiting for me to screw up, and I've had this sort of ridiculous crush on you."

Her cheeks were pink, eyes wide, and Houston kept quiet, liking the sound of this, wanting to hear where this could go. Desire punched him in the gut at her admission that she was attracted to him.

"Silly, really, because you're ..." She waved her hand around in front of him. "And I'm ..." Gesturing to herself, she blew a loud breath out of the corner of her mouth.

He had no idea what that was supposed to mean, and he was about to ask her, when she glanced toward the door again.

"But anyway, I don't think this is the place to discuss this."

Josie stepped back out of his reach. He took her hand, pulling her to a stop, not about to let her escape now that he'd gotten a teasing taste of her. She had admitted she was attracted to him as well, and that was just the green light he'd been looking for.

He knew he should let her go. He should forget he had started this and walk out of here with his sanity intact. Except that he would go crazy if he couldn't have Josie. The ache was too strong, too burning, deep inside where it plagued him and distracted him every minute in her presence.

He had to have her.

It takes a lot to make me rave about a book these days, mostly because my time is so limited. But Erin McCarthy is a name to watch. Her voice is so unique and witty, she'll be a star in no time. I LOVED this book, from the first word to the last. It's funny, sexy, and romantic! Treat yourself. I'm glad I did.

Erin McCarthy¿s debut novel Bad Boys Online is sensational. Its hits all the right spots, its funny, sexy and makes you want more!! In Hard Drive, Kindra Hill has had this huge crush on her co-worker Mack Stone since the day he started working with her. Mack walks into her office one day and catches her having an online affair. Kindra insists to Mack it is much safer and not complicated but Mack issues a challenge of his own. He can prove to her that the old fashioned way is so much more satisfying. Press Any Key, set Jared Kinkaid and Candy Appleton up for online counseling. Their boss feels that they need to work on their differences in order to be a better team. The course they end up with is for couples not coworkers. Jared has been fighting his attraction to Candy since day one. Candy has never had problems attracting men until Jared. She decides to pull out all the stops to get his attention. User Friendly has caterer Halley Connors with a major problem on her website. She has been hacked, now the picture of her on the site no longer has clothes on, yikes. She runs for help to computer consultant and best friend, Evan Barrett. Evan and Halley have been friends for years and neither has let the other know that their feelings are more then friends. Evan sees this as a golden opportunity to push the envelope on their friendship. I really enjoyed all three stories. The dialogue is so witty and snappy. The chemistry of the characters in each story is so steamy. Looking forward to more from this author.

'Hard Drive' Mack Stone has been fantasizing about workmate Kindra Hill for over a year. Walking into Kindra's office while she was engaging in cyber sex gave Mack the opening he needed to finally bring his fantasies to life. Kindra is nearly mortified when the one man she has an intense crush on, Mack Stone, finds her reading a dirty email. When she quickly finds out that this gorgeous hunk is interested, very interested, her mortification turns to shock and pleasure. 'Press Any Key' Jared Kincaid is forced to work closely on a project with Candy Appleton. Her name alone is partially responsible for his fantasies; add her beauty and her intelligence, and it is not hard to figure out why he tries to avoid her at all costs. It's been his personal experience that sex and the workplace don't mix. Candy knows she was born with beauty and sex appeal. And she loves to flirt. Why doesn't Jared like her? It shouldn't bother her, but it does. For two months now, since she and Jared started working together, she's been lusting after him. He's been making her crazy. Their boss, Harold, tries to resolve the tension in the office that exists between Jared and Candy.. What Harold doesn't realize is that it is sexual tension. Harold signs them up for online couples counseling. Imagine their shock! 'User Friendly' In this great friends-to-lovers story, Halley Connors and Evan Barrett have been best friends for years. What neither of them know is that they are both burning a torch for the other. What will finally bring them together? When Halley goes to work one morning, to the catering company she owns, she discovers that her website's been hacked. Afraid she'll lose business, she goes to Evan, a webmaster and a consultant, with hopes he can repair the damage. Will Evan fix more than her website? While all the couples in BAD BOYS ONLINE, began to explore the difference between sex and love, each relationship finds a deeper bond. Each character is well-developed despite the length of each novella. In addition to that, not only are the sexual encounters hotter than hot in this anthology, Ms. McCarthy writes with a sharp wit that causes you to laugh, even while reading a hot, sexy scene. I have been eagerly waiting for this release. I was not disappointed and happily place BAD BOYS ONLINE on my keeper shelf. I will be visiting Ms. McCarthy's website - - because I am eager to see the progress of this new author. Mark your calendars. Ms. McCarthy has a Brava single title that will be released in April, 2004, called SMART MOUTH. I plan to be first in line.

Once upon a time there was a contest for Brava. There were a lot of entries and a few authors grabbed the attention of readers and editors alike and Erin McCarthy was one of those authors. In her debut, Ms McCarthy writes hot enough to singe the pages and to tickle the funny bone. In Hard Drive, Kindra has been having a cyber-affair with Russ for months, but in reality she has a hard time getting co-worker Mack Stone out of her mind. Mack has every intention of making Kindra see that cyber-dating doesn't compare to a real life affair. In PRESS ANY KEY, Candy Appleton and Jared Kincaid are forced by their boss to attend a couples counseling session in the hope that they can work together without killing each other. Will Candy be able to melt away Jared's defenses? Will Candy stick around longer then three hours? In USER FRIENDLY, Halley needs the help of her best friend Evan to find out who hacked into her website and left her with nothing on but the cupid strategically placed on her body. How will Halley feel when Evan admits that he wants to be where Cupid is? I can't recommend this book enough, I really enjoyed and cannot wait until Ms McCarthy's next release.

My second set of reads from the "Bad Boy" series. I liked these ones, probably because the style is the same throughout. Again, I wouldn't want to be reading them in public! :)

Bad Boys Online was a great fun and flirty romance read.  I really enjoyed reading this book.  I loved that the book was made up of three short stories that relate around either office romance or people they have known for a while that are finally willing to take the step to moving  towards a relationship or hooking up, The stories were quick and fast reads that you could sit down and read in a couple of hour setting.  I loved that when Erin decided to re-release this book that she did not change any of the material even though some of the technology was a little out of date.  I kind of thought this was the part of the stories that I loved the best because they made me smile and not take everything to seriously.  Erin gives you great romance in quick and fun package that you can read in different parts or you can just dive into and not put down.  You decide. I received this book as ARC from the Author for an honest review.

Bad Boys Online I loved reading this book for the second time just as much as I did the first time. The minor revamp of this story gave me a chance to fall in love with this book all over again. I think my favorite part of this particular book is that it is a collection of stories in one. You get to read three love stories instead of just one. Bad Boys Online is great if you're short on time, but still want to get your reading fix.

This anthology of three stories by Erin McCarthy was fun to read! I enjoyed all three stories, and liked the characters in them, as well as the storylines. My favorite of the three was the last story, "User Friendly." This one was the story of two close friends, Haley and Ethan, whose relationship undergoes a chance from friendship to romance. The first story, "Hard Drive," finds coworkers Mack and Kindra deciding to have sex after he finds that she has been having sexy chats online with a man she's never met. Mack assures Kindra that he can show her a more satisfying time. As things heart up between them, their hearts become involved. In the middle story, "Press Any Key," Candy thinks her new coworker Jared intensely dislikes her. When confined alone together in the boss' office for an afternoon, the truth of their attraction to one another comes out. I enjoyed every second spent reading this entertaining anthology. Although the stories were reissues, I felt like they were still relevant. The stories were all sweet, yet very steamy. The book was also very quick and easy to read.

The fabulous Erin McCarthy is re-releaseing one of her anthologies, Bad Boys Online.  Let me tell you - this may be an oldie, but it is a goodie!  Three Erin McCarthy stories all in one.  I first read this book about a decade ago, and it is the book that actually hooked me into reading everything Erin has written (yes, I mean everything - I have a bin of books in my basement to prove it).  Three fun reads that involve, yes you guessed it, social media.  My favorite of the three is “User Friendly” - I just adore Evan, and his relationship with Halley.   And, while Evan is still my favorite character, I found that Bad Boys Online as a whole was even better than I remembered.  Of course, this may be because social media is such a huge part of our everyday lives now - at least my life. I recommend you read this awesome anthology.  And, if you have already read it, I suggest you pull it out and read it again.  I promise, you’ll enjoy it! I received the re-released edition for free in exchange for a honest review.

These bad boys give a whole new meaning to on-site tech support… HARD DRIVE Mack Stone can’t believe he’s just walked in on his co-worker Kindra Hill exchanging sexy emails with a total stranger. Defending her naughty online affair, Kindra claims to prefer the impersonal touch to the complication of a relationship. That’s enough to make Mack issue a challenge of his own: He wants her to grant him twelve nonstop hours to turn every erotic e-mail into a hot reality and prove that in love and pleasure, there’s no substitute for the real thing… PRESS ANY KEY To Jared Kinkaid, the only way to keep his mind — and his hands — off his luscious co-worker Candy Appleton is to insult or ignore her at every turn. But his efforts at lust control have his boss convinced that the partners need a little help via online couples counseling. But when they’re mistakenly signed up for sensual couples counseling instead, Jared and Candy’s shock turns to pleasure as they each deliver some hands on therapy of their own… USER FRIENDLY Evan Barrett can usually solve any tech problem, but when long-time friend Halley Connors calls him to fix her catering website, his focus is on her, not the screen. Imagining his secret crush in the buff is the kind of fantasy that drives him wild every time Halley’s near. Now, as they work overtime to save the business, Evan uses technology and some good old-fashioned charm to convince Halley that he belongs in her bed… My thoughts - This is a set of 3 short stories about tech guys. I first read this book in 2003 and loved it. Reading it again in 2014, I still love it. Erin is such a talented writer and she can write a very steamy scene. I liked all 3 stories, but Hard Drive was the most erotic and User Friendly was the sweetest. I love a friends to lovers story. This book has been on my keeper shelf for 11 years and it's back on my keeper shelf to stay. Highly recommended.

Quick and Steamy Read 3.5 stars, November 6, 2014  This review is from: Bad Boys Online (Kindle Edition)  Bad Boys Online is a book consisting of 3 novellas each a fast, fun, steamy read. Each story establishes the main characters having known each other and been friends for an extended period of  time, 10 years as best friends in one case. After a specific inciting incident occurs in each novella a  major change of each relationship takes place within a 24 hour time period. Each story has some  laugh out loud moments as well as steam, which Ms. McCarthy can write with the best of them. The author’s trademark humor comes through in each story but her character and romantic relationship building isn’t allowed in this novella format. I prefer her full novels that give her that page length to establish fully fleshed out characters and build the relationship up from lukewarm to simmer  to boiling.

Was an ok read.  I liked the last of the 3 stories best. I would rather read a book that is one long story than to have several stories.  I get too vested in the story lines I guess.

Silly sexy fun? That's pretty much Bad Boys Online. It's a hot little collection of novellas all centered around online tech of some sort. And oh it was a good time! I really enjoyed each of the three stories as long time friends or coworkers finally got the chance to hook up with the people they've been smitten with or totally in love with for ages. They're each quick stories but nicely fleshed out and since they start with the characters already knowing each other they don't feel like they're moving "too fast" in the relationships which was nice. They're quirky and fun and full of make-you-girl-aw moments that just left me smiling, And oh *fans self* the heat! Yes...this one has some nice lovin' happening for sure. It's the perfect little read for a chilly afternoon with a hot cup of tea.

review This is a smoking hot collection of romances that all revolve around the internet. In Hard Drive Mack makes a deal with Kindra that he can prove within a 12 hour period that one on one sex is a lot hotter than cyber sex any day. Is Kindra up for the challenge? In Press Any Key Jared Kincaid is trying anything that he can to stay away from his office worker Candy because all he does is fantasize about making love to her and he learned the hard way that office hookups don't work. Candy on the other hand is trying to do anything that she can to make Jared stand up and pay attention. In User Friendly Halley and Evan are best friends and don't want to tell each other that they want their relationship to go even further, not until the day that Halley finds out that her business website has been hacked with all of the world seeing her in a compromising position to say the least. If you like HOT then you won't be disappointed with this collection of stories. I was given an ARC for an honest review. All conclusions are mine and mine alone. Lori P

This is one of the first books I read by Erin McCarthy. When I saw it was being released with a new cover I knew I had to re-read it. I love that the book wasn't changed like so many others in order to keep up with the changing technology. There is something to be said about HOT emails! This definitely another must read for any Erin McCarthy fans as well as individuals who have not yet read any of her books! You don't know what you are missing until you have read one. Once you read one you can't stop. You have to read them all!

I read this book in 2003 when it came out and I loved it just as much now in 2014! Super hot! Super Sexy, Super funny, don't walk to the store or computer run and enjoy a timeless novel by a great author! 'Hard drive' Mack and Kindra are co-workers and although they both admire each other from a distance they have never brought up the attraction, until one day Mack sees something he cannot ignore! Mack catches Kindra talking dirty online and lets her know in no uncertain terms that the real thing is 100% better than anything Kindra could ever write on her computer screen. Kindra is embarrassed and does what any hot blooded woman would do...calls his bluff and gives him 12 hrs to prove it! 'Press any key' Jared sees Candy and knows that she is everything he wants in any woman but after sharing a work kiss with a coworker in the past and having to quit his job to avoid drama he is staying far away from Candy. Candy is the sexy, smart woman that is very confused as to why Jared avoids her at every turn. Candy cant help but be happy when her boss forces them to take a online couples course to kill the tension between them. Luckily for Candy forced couples counseling is just what she needed to get Jared to see that she is exactly what he is missing from his life and between his sheets! 'User Friendly' Halley realizes that her catering companies website has been hacked and a nude photo with her face, copy and pasted on it has been plastered up for everyone to see. Freaking out Halley calls her best friend Evan to step in to save the day. Panicking because Evan wont answer the phone Halley rushes to his house and when he opens the door half naked Halley is reminded why she has been avoiding Evan. Evan is super sexy and it has become hard to keep him in the friend zone. Luckily for her Evan feels the same way and he makes sure she knows that this is only the beginning of something great!

Love these three tales about love and romance in the digital age.  I had read these years ago and found them just as entertaining in the newly revised addition.  These are stories that I found both fun and sexy!

Sometimes the classics never go away and every once in awhile I'll pull one off my bookshelf that I haven't reread in awhile. That was the case in Erin McCarthy's Bad Boys Online. I love the whole Bad Boy's series and this one by Erin was actually the first book I had ever read by her and I was an instant fan right from the get go and I think at the time this was Erins debut novel.  Bad Boys Online is funny and sexy at the same time.  Erin writes all three novella's in this book.  In Hard Drive you have Kindra and Mack, in Press Any key you have Jared and Candy and User Friendly is about Halley and Evan. All three stories are unique and when you read one you want to read more.  I'm so glad I picked this one up again to read. I hope you do too.

Bad Boys Online Challenge 10/31/2014 Hard Drive Kindra is fed up with physical relationships with men, they don't do a thing for her except maybe give her a headache. She decides that an online sexy relationship is less messy but gets caught reading said dirty email by the office hunk, Mack, who Kindra has had a crush on for quite some time. He doesn't get the appeal of online sex over real sex, seeing this as his chance to finally be with Kindra, Mack challenges her to let him prove the real thing is better. When what is suppose to be a 12 hour challenge turns into something a whole lot deeper, both Kindra and Mack have to trust in each other and the feelings that are building between them. This was short and sweet, Kindra is the office wallflower, overlooked by everyone while crushing on the office hunk. Mack is the office hunk, who takes advantage of a dirty email to prove he can be anything and everything Kindra needs.  Press Any Key Jared and Candy don't really like each other and are assigned to work on a marketing project together. Their boss, sensing the friction between them, decides that it's necessary for them to go through a three hour online couples counseling course, alone in his office,to resolve all their issues. Their issues don't stem from dislike but from lust, so when the couples counseling questions start becoming more intimate, controlling their lust for one another becomes impossible. This story was super hot and sexy, Candy isn't just the average blond bombshell, she really smart and very good at her job. Jared is coming off another office relationship gone wrong and is wary about starting another with Candy. I liked how they both went from secretly lusting/disliking each other to learning about and admiring each other. How they interact with one other was pretty entertaining and some of the conversations they had made me laugh out loud.  User Friendly This was my favorite out of the three stories, best friends becoming lover stories are my favorite. Halley and Evan have been best friends for years, Halley has a catering business and Evan is a computer guru and maintains all her website stuff. When her website is hacked leaving a picture of a naked woman with Halley's head attached as her profile picture, Halley turns to Evan to fix it. They have been fighting their feelings for each other not wanting to potentially ruin their friendship, Evan is determined to show Halley that they can be lovers and still be friends. I liked how Evan had been telling Haley how he felt for a long time but she always took it like he was joking.  I find that to be the most realistic, she was fighting her own feelings for him and didn't want to get her hopes up so she convinced herself that he had to be kidding around.

By far one of my favorite books. Erin McCarthy adds such humor to the stories, not to mention that each story is hotter than the next! Hard to believe that this is her debut. I so hope that they will release a nook version of this book. I'd love to add it to my collection.
