Bad Riverby S.J. King

Bad River is a tale of two men: One who builds a grass empire of cattle and horses on the vast Dakota prairie; the other who follows a trail of violence and bloodshed. A gripping western novel told in a way that will keep you in your saddle from beginning to end. King has written a lively and readable novel of action and event, but also of character and situation. The narrative moves along at a great rate, dialogue is particularly well crafted, the main characters carry the novel, they are believeable, and, in particular the ending is effective, as the lone rider silently moves off stage. It is written with drive and conviction.

One of the best books I have ever read. Greatly looking forward to the next installment in this series. Hopefully it comes out soon. If you have time I would highly recommend giving this book a read.
Sky King is a cross between Louis L'Amour and Larry McMurtry with a dash of Elmore Leonard thrown in. Why haven't we heard more from him? Where is this guy hiding out? I hope whereever it is he's writing his next western.
"Very enjoyable read!". "S.J. King's use of actual cities, towns, etc. and geography made the book more credible. Entertaining, interesting and a bit suspenseful. Very enjoyable read." --Colorado Fans
Bad River is definitely a great read. S.J. King developed a taut plot, empathetic characters, and page turning suspense. Although this is a must read for western fans, readers of any genre will relish this novel. King is knowledgeable about the time and the people and authentically delivers his story to the readers. I especially appreciated his use of the vernacular of the time. Most particularly however, Bad River is a page turner that's difficult to put down once you pick it up. I await the next novel by S.J. King.
