Excellent read for both dancer and non-dancer alike. Offers a comprehensive history of the ballerina from a behind the scenes point of view. The book attests to the role of women in dance/ballet showing us both how much and how little things have changed over time. Fascinating read and highly recommended!

I was unimpressed. Maybe the first 75 pages live up to the title. Half the book is about anorexia in the 1980s and there are about 40 pages of footnotes. And the Nook version is about 200 pages. There is a lot of repetition and preaching and very little not already covered by other dance histories.
