They say when you take revenge against another you lose a part of your innocence.
But I'm not innocent.
I haven't been for a very long time.
My innocence was stolen from me. Taken was the life I was supposed to have. The soul I was born with. The ruby heart embedded in a life full of hopes and dreams.

I never even had a choice.
I mourn that life. Mourn the what-ifs.
Until now.
I'm ready to take back what was always meant to be mine.

But every plan has a fatal flaw. Sometimes it's the heart.

**Due to the dark and explicit nature of this book, it is recommended for mature audiences only.**

4.5 I NEED MORE stars!! I have been staring at this blank screen completely gobsmacked at how to write this review.  I finished Bang a week ago and I am still not sure how to rate this book or how to put into words all the emotions this book evoked.  What I do know is that E.K. Blair blew my mind!   Bang was a book that was really hard to read, not because of the writing but due to some of the story lines and the gut wrenching scenes in this book.  I will admit to almost putting this book away after realizing what direction things were going in young Elizabeth's life, but I pushed through and came out on the other side of the (sometimes horrific) story and I am glad I did.  E.K. Blair took a leap with this book, she digs deep and gives you a story you don't want to read but can't help yourself by turning the pages.  The writing is so good, the layout of the story is intriguing and pushes the reader just to the point where you don't think you can take anymore and then you realize you can't put this down... you HAVE to know! Bang is a story that will haunt you, fascinate you and make you crave to understand these characters.  I wanted to hate Elizabeth/Nina but I couldn't.  You want her to get the satisfaction she craves but at the same time you want her to find something else to save her.  GAH!  This story is still tearing me up and I won't spoil a thing for you because most of what makes Bang so good is you never know what is coming and you can't predict what will happen next. E.K. Blair won me over with her Fading series and I fell in love with her writing and the way she can make characters feel so deeply while connecting the reader to the story.  In Bang she really pushes the readers past your comfort zone, shoves very dark things in your face and has you reeling from page one.  E.K. Blair's talent really shines in this book.  Whether or not you can stomach the story line you have to applaud an author that can wrap you up in a story like this and come out on the other side speechless.  I am truly amazed and in awe how the same author can write two series that cause such a reaction in the reader.  E.K. Blair has the rare ability to surround you with her words, push your boundaries and leave you breathless with her ability to write such an emotion-inducing story. I won't tell you much about the plot, but I will say that you find yourself wanting things that you shouldn't want, cringing over the life that these characters have to live and then hoping for it all to magically be OK.  The heat level in this book is intense, uncomfortable and so worth the journey!  The last 10% of this book I held my breath and was left shocked, angry, and in tears but INSTANTLY needing more of this story.  E.K. Blair has me hooked!  As uncomfortable as I was during parts of this story it was  worth it to get to the place I am at now; gasping for more! If you aren't afraid to read a story that will send your emotions all over the place and push your boundaries of what you are comfortable reading then I HIGHLY recommend Bang!  This isn't an easy read, but that is part of what makes Bang so damn good.  E.K. Blair has proven with this new series that she can write anything and I will read it and be moved by it.

I have to rank it up there with my favorite books of all times.  I could not put the book down!  The lead character has had such a hard life. The story takes a lot of twists and turns you are kept in suspense and awe  Thoughout the whole book. Now I have to wait patiently to see what happens. I highly recommend this book you  will not be disappointed!

I have a serious book hangover!!!! Thank you, E.k. Blair for a great read! I really admire when an author takes risks and steps out of the norm! I loved this book, although you really did a number on me... Reading is my escape & I could not put this book down! My boyfriend kept asking me what was wrong, I probably looked like a lunatic. I cried, laughed out loud, had tourette's really bad... and I really felt for these characters. I finished reading this a few days ago and I can't stop thinking about this story... I feel like a crack head, needing my fix! I'm gonna go crazy waiting for the next book. What am I supposed to read now???

Whew. I want the next book, like now. The amount of work that must have gone into this book... I can't even imagine. It's so intense... gritty... dark... emotional... sad... torturous... cringe-worthy in parts... God, it's fan-freaking-tastic.  It's not a book for the faint-hearted reader... this one will seep way down deep into your soul and stay with you for a long time. I highly recommend reading this if you're looking for an emotional and dramatic as  well as traumatic read.  5 out of 5 stars for me.

I couldn't' get past the Child sexual abuse and raping... I just could finish reading the story.. I was some what liking the book until the sexual abuse and raping started with Nina and Pike... To each his own I guess. If you don't mind reading about that kind of thing you may very well love the book.. Just not for me!

Mind.f*cked. There's no other way to describe how I felt once I finished the book. To say I loved it would be an understatement. Every.Demented.Page. It's dark; it's twisted, and I loved every freakin' page! I'm anxious, freaked out, rocking myself as I sit here and wonder, "When in the hell can I get my hands on Book 2?" I feel like I need therapy. :-) READ THIS BOOK!

This book is worth your time. I have read so many books, but I haven't read a book like this. The plot in this book was written so well I didn't think it was going to be soooo good. I hope the next two books will keep going with Elizabeth's story.

i just finished this book and i had to find out if the second book Echo is out--it's not! E K Blair wanted the reader to feel everything when you read this book and you will. haven't been this enthused about a book in forever. i hope nobody writes a review with a spoiler--it's that good!

What to say about BANG?  There is really no way to do this book justice in a review.  It is one of those books you absolutely have to experience for yourself.  It is a total mindf**k.  Just when you think that you have a pretty good grasp on how everyone is connected and what is going on something else is mentioned and you are sent right back into the tailspin you had just recovered from. BANG is a whirlwind of interconnectivity and secrets.  There are so many subtle nuances that, I'm pretty sure, you could read it a million times and never pick up on all of the Easter Eggs that EK has included in the story. I literally can not say anything else about this book without intruding on the experience of reading yourself.  You truly have to go into this book completely blind, or you will miss out on so much of the madness that you need to undergo to completely understand these incredibly complex characters, plots, and subplots.

Wow. Just wow.  This book left me utterly speechless.  I won't spoil the book for anyone but I will tell you this is a MUST read.  It's a dark, twisted story with some love thrown in.  ;)  Follow "Nina" as she seeks revenge for the life that was stolen from her.  You'll be mad at her, then love her as you realize more of how her life was growing up.  Be prepared for one roller-coaster of a ride.

A Review of Bang (Black Lotus #1) by E.K. Blair Dark and dirty - 5 stars I had the chance to purchase this book for free on a special that was running during tax time. I finally got around to reading it the last couple of days and I have to say it is pretty spectacular. It is a dark, intense storyline of love, loss, abuse and finally revenge. The story flips quite a bit between the past and the present time, which can usually put me off a storyline, but for some reason it really works with this story. Elizabeth was abruptly snatched away from her loving father when she was five years old and we get bits and pieces of her life from her point of view during the time she spends waiting for her father to come back to her. This story brings to focus the horrible truths about foster families. I know there are some really good people out there that provide loving, safe homes for children, but there are all too many of these sick m'f'ers in this world. When Elizabeth changes her name to Nina and marries Bennett, it's with the plan to make him pay for what he's done to her in her past. It takes a lot of twists and turns to find out what that was and to see where she is coming from. This is definitely not a story for the feint of heart. You have to be strong enough to wade through the hell these two kids went through to be able to get to the end of this book. I know there are two more books in the series, so I have a lot of questions as to what actually happens at the end of this book. Looking forward to reading them. **Good Purchase**

I fell in love with E.K Blair when I read Fading, Freeing and Falling. While those deal with serious topics, Bang was much darker and incredibly tragic. I feel depressed after reading it....and dirty. It's not a bad book, it's well written and the characters are well developed. I couldn't put the book down, I was totally sucked in but it deals with such heavy topics that I can't say this is a favorite of mine. Definitely no HEA in this one. It's chaos...pain...sadness...a complete tragedy. Horrible things like this happen every day leaving spirits broken, like Elizabeth and Pike, that's why this was a depressing read. I gave it 5 stars because it is a well written book, but you should take the warning in the summary serious, there are some disturbing scenes. 292 pgs

I NEED THERAPY AFTER THIS ONE!! OMG I don't even know what to say about this book...except that it is really a 4.5 Star Read!!!! I am seriously going out of my mind after having read this one. Let me tell you, this book was so well written and brilliantly done. It kept me engrossed from the moment I read the Prologue. E.K. Blair did an awesome job with this book...However, I am left to feel like a crazy woman who either needs a drink or a valium, because I have no idea what the heck just happened!! I NEED ANSWERS!! OMG DO I NEED ANSWERS!! Bang focuses on Nina's plot to seek revenge on all those that she feels had a hand in wronging her and taking away her innocence. However, I am sorry to say I did not like Nina at all!! I could not root for her at all. She is a seriously screwed up individual and no matter how much I tried to sympathize with her plight, she would always make me say NO...NOT GONNA DO IT!! Don't get me wrong when I say young Nina has been through a lot that has had a very severe impact on grown up Nina, and for that, my heart broke for her, but instead of trying to overcome...she wallows in that, causing her to be severely messed the heck up!! I don't even know what to say for her. Wow!! My head hurts just thinking about this girl and her frame of mind and her thought processing. Declan McKinnon, the "bad boy" Scottish hotel owner. I cannot even say that I liked Declan. I think had he been introduced under different circumstances, I would have liked him, but as he is written into this story...NOPE, I DON'T LIKE HIM EITHER!! I just could not find a guy who takes what he wants even when what he wants is not available to him attractive in this situation. I found him to be seriously disrespectful of Nina's marriage. However, I will say that he did not deserve to be roped into the situation...although he did do a lot of pushing and prodding to get into it. And Pike, who is Nina's "brother"...Wow!! All I will say about Pike is that I did love the fact that he was always there for Nina, but he is a seriously messed up individual too. Now I will say that I loved Bennett Vanderwal, Nina's husband. Bennett loves his wife dearly and treats her like a queen. My heart hurt for him throughout this entire book. Bennett is a good man who is in a situation with someone who is out of their everloving mind and does not deserve him in the least bit. I am totally Team Bennett through and through!! This book is extremely well done,, but be forewarned that if you are looking for fluffy, lovey-dubbey, good feelings all around, this is NOT the book for you. E.K. Blair is an extremely talented storyteller. I had no idea what was happening or what to expect next in this storyline. The twists and turns, and the ride that she took me on in telling this story was well worth the read. The characters, even the secondary characters, are well developed and beyond complex in this story. The story unfolds perfectly...although THAT ENDING...UMM...I THINK I NEED THERAPY AND THANK GOODNESS I CAN READ ECHO IMMEDIATELY. Great job on this one, E.K. Blair. Although, I must admit to being scared, I still cannot wait to see what you have in store in Echo.

Story follows a woman with an extremely dark past. Was confused for a while as to why it was classsified as a romance story but it finally let down that path. Lots of poo hits the fan at the end and what a cliffhanger!
