I was hooked from the very first page and continued to be hooked until the very last word. I The 3 main charaters and the plot were well developed. The supporting charaters were developed just enough to leave you wanting more, which you will get in the next book in the series. This is a great beach read, couch read, airplane read, ANYWHERE read. Anyone that enjoys romance should purchase BAREFOOT in the SAND, you will not be disappointed! I was able to connect with the charaters and felt as though I was watching a movie play out in front of me. This is the first book written by Raoxanne st. Claire that I have read, but it will certainly NOT be the last.

I picked this book out because of the Florida beach theme.  So glad I did!  Roxanne realistically captured the emotions of real life situations; surviving a hurricane (been there, done that,), a single mother trying to rebuild their life while trying to be a good example for her daughter (been there, done that), living in a small community where everyone knows everything (been there, done that).  She infused all of this with humor, romance and emotion that left me laughing, crying a sighing.  An awesome read for someone that wants to step into the pages and be swept into this world!  Can't wait for the next book!!!

Roxanne St. Claire has done it again! I been a fan for a long time, and I have read most of her books, let alone I have most of her books in my collection. However, Roxanne did not disappoint me this time either. I am enjoying this new series that takes place in Barefoot Bay which is a place of peacefulness on the island of Mimosa Key, just off the coast of Florida. The location was fabulous, and very original. The story tells of four best friends who met in college, and SAND features one as the protagonist - Lacey Armstrong. Lacey's entire house and all she loved was completely blown away by a destructive hurricane that ripped up Barefoot Bay. She decides to take this opportunity, to rebuild a new and renovated resort in place of the one that destroyed bed and breakfast. When Lacey meets this young and attractive architect Clay Walker, who is perfect for the job, her life takes a drastic turn. Her three best friends - Jocelyn, Zoe, and Tessa - rally in Barefoot Bay to assist in Lacey's in this new project that she is taking on with the help of Clay. This story will make you cry and laugh and rejoices. This is the first book in this series, and I have the whole series, and I am looking forward to reading the second book in this series.

## Just ok for me. I have read many other books by Ms. St. Claire and loved them. But this one missed the mark. I had a difficult time relating to the characters. Lacey was far too needy for me. Always wanting to ask the hero "where is this going?" After two weeks? Seriously? And she forgave the hero way too easily after he left her. "I love him, I need him...." ugh. The fourteen year old was a real brat and disrespectful to boot. I couldn't understand why the hero didn't just tell the heroine why he was leaving or that he'd be back. He intentionally hurt her by leaving the next day with no explanation. This is one book where the girl should've kicked the "hero" to the curb. I won't be buying the next one.

I really enjoyed this book. I love series and hope that this one continues on and on. The book was very predictable but most romance novels are. I love how she brought the characters and the town to life. I will be reading all of the barefoot bay series.

The first of Roxanne St. Claire's Barefoot Bay series is a must read! Ms. St. Claire combines tragedy, tenacity & romance in this page turner. Lacey Armstrong finds courage in the face of a hurricane that devastates her home on Barefoot Bay. Lacey is determined that she and her daughter Ashley WILL survive. Her dream of opening a Bed & Breakfast is within reach. Clay Walker, a confirmed bachelor, is tring to establish himself as a premier architect and NEEDS the project Lacey has dreamed about for years. Can two very different people with the love of the movie Casablanca, a common vision & relationship issues overcome personal hang-ups and an entire island to build a dream?

I have read several romantic suspense books by Roxanne St. Claire and was excited to hear she was writing a contemporary romance series. Barefoot in the Sand was a great book to read. Starting with the hurricane that wiped out Lacey's house in Barefoot Bay, this book jumped right in to the recovery and new life for Lacey and her daughter after the hurricane. Lacey's dream to own a bed and breakfast face many challenges and grows into reality along with her romance with Clay Walker. This is a great story, with strong main characters and very entertaining secondary characters that make the book fun to read. Lacey and Clay seem perfect for each other and they earn their happily ever after together. Roxanne has the ability to describe the setting to allow the reader to picture everything in vivid color and feel like you are actually in Barefoot Bay. Looking forward to the rest of this series.

You can always trust Roxanne St. Claire to write a strong story with all the elements, sad, happy, confused, self struggling, friendship, hunky men and much much more including of course romance and sex. This is the 1st. book in the Barefoot Bay series about Lacey and her daughter and a new beginning for won't be disappointed!

I enjoyed reading Barefoot in the Sand. Even if I wasn't a devoted fan of Roxanne St Claire (which I most definitely am) I would have picked this contemporary romance after reading the book description. She is a prolific & gifted writer. This isn't the first contemporary romance she has written, however it's a bit of a departure from what she has been writing the last few years. Many of her fans know her best for her incredibly popular romantic suspense Bullet Catchers series. I believe a good writer can tell a first-class story in a variety of genres. St Claire proves me right.Barefoot in the Sand takes place on the gulf coast of Florida on the fictional barrier island of Mimosa Key and the pristine beach called Barefoot Bay. A romantic setting indeed! From the very first page the story spirals to life as Lacey Armstrong and her fourteen year-old daughter, Ashley, batten-down to survive an imminent hurricane. The storm destroys their family home and all of their belongings in a matter of minutes. St. Claire reminds us material belongings, regardless of how sentimental or treasured, are not what truly matters...they are alive and unhurt. And have to move on and rebuild. The two main characters Lacey Armstrong and Clay Walker have immediate chemistry. He is definitely a hottie. The story strays from the "traditional romance" older male - younger female dynamic. Lacey is 36 and Clay is 29. I like the idea of an older woman romancing a younger man as long as there is an acceptable age difference. In this case, Clay is a man, not a boy, thus avoiding the possible `ick' factor. Good for Lacey. (By the way, I feel the same way about a much older man with a very young girl.) Three of Lacey's college friends, her ex and several townsfolk are among the many secondary characters sprinkled in to make a very fun, layered story which is well constructed. The author implants just enough information to tickle our interest and have us anxious for the next book(s) in the series. Barefoot in the Rain (Barefoot Bay)

Barefoot in the Sand....Make friends, True Paradise, Loss is found, Hope Is taken to new levels. Barefoot Bay at Mimosa Key..where Lacey Armstrong and her daughter Ashley lose everything important to them. They don't give up. Lacey has ideas...that's when one Clay Walker walks into her life. You don't want to miss what happens between.them... When Ashley's real father comes into the picture wanting something Lacey does not want its very hard....something is learned and a very touching scene  which everyone should take to heart. I know I did. Here is the series in a nut shell....The Sand is at under your Feet, Rain might Come, Sun at your Back and in your Face, and Sea in front of you.
