This author knows his stuff, he breaks it down for the beginner and makes it seem simple, it makes you want to paint models! It covers a lot of subjects associated with model railroading, painting engines and cars, buildings, people and even cars and trucks for the model railroad scene. He discusses paints and brushes, I especially liked the parts on airbrushing, making it a simple thing to get started. He also goes into some depth on weathering railcars, engines, and buildings, and again makes it look simple using paints and chalks and other tricks of the trade. After reading this book I feel confident thatI can paint, detail, and weather train cars and engines and I have never painted before. He also discusses decals which are important to model railroading. A great book for anyone who models railroads and wants to get more involved in creating a more realistic layout. Highly recommended for the painting beginner.
