This book is a great help when researching the possibilities of different materials, for precedents for design projects and for simply improving one's knowledge of architectural materials. I would recommend this book to architecture, interior architecture students as well as professionals. The chapters are themed around various key building materials such as 'Brick and Stone', 'Concrete', 'Timber', 'Glass and Steel' as well as 'Composite Materials'. There is also a really useful chapter on the possibilities for future materials and sustainability. The author has provided an interesting account of the history and context of each material as well as a time line of various influential projects. Some really fantastic case studies have been included, both contemporary and classic.
