Vigorous and highly readable, this portrait of the enlisted man's life aboard the U.S. battleship California depicts the devastation at Pearl Harbor from the hazardous vantage point of the open "birdbath" atop the mainmast.

A valuable culmination of true life experiences from a real sailor. Life aboard and abroad pre and post Dec7 1941 makes for such an interesting insight on how life was. This book is not just a whole of bullets and killing, but feelings from a real person who envelopes the reader as if one was there. Loved this book, sad and funny. Highly recommended for any WW2 buff.
