I started on a nineteen-year roller-coaster ride of pleasure, adoration, generosity and fun, mixed with humiliation, frustration, and fear bound by a labyrinthine web of deceit and debt, topped off with a large dose of emotional blackmail. With apparently no chance of escape from this astounding situation, I stooped to petty retribution and absconded, time after time. Why did I return? Why couldn't it just stop? What was the indestructible bond between us?
My exciting and emotional story provides some explanation of how and why women may tolerate the intolerable. It may also be an inspiration to women whose situation is on a parallel, as well as enlightenment to those who believe women trapped in such scenarios are weak-willed and piteous. The reader will experience myriad emotions, from joy to exasperation, and laughter to tears, as the bizarre tapestry of my life unfolds.

An exceptionally well written, captivating and gripping read. Life with an alcoholic is no life at all, not really - or is it. This story is a bitter sweet battle of a love and hate for what could have been the perfect romance with the happy ever after, or could it? Such a compelling story that keeps you turning the pages. Bearing her soul, Fiona wears her heart on her sleeve and tells it like it was. I waited eagerly for the arrival of my book and it did not let me down. 2 days (would have been one but work got in the way) and it was thoroughly absorbed and read cover to cover with tears and admiration, awe and respect. As I turned each page I wanted to get to the next one and the next, I really was absorbed within the lines. Living in the page within Fiona's words wanting it all to stop, for her to be happy...Now I want to pick it up to read again but my daughter has taken it home to read. Fiona's endurance throughout amazed me, her strength and tirelessness so admirable. I would encourage everyone to read this book. I guarantee you will be unable to put it down and when you do it will leave you wondering!
