Most Helpful Customer Reviews
Lisa Kan is one of my favorite beading artists. Her designs are elegant without being gaudy. With that said, I would certainly not recommend this book for beginners. The directions are fair, but many of the designs would be too complicated and complex for someone just learning the craft. Many of the designs are done in parts and then assembled one by one, which can make one piece very time consuming. I agree with the previous reviewer that the elements she uses are also very expensive, however many of the materials she uses can be subsituted for more inexpensive elements (so long as they are the same size). The pros of this book would be the pictures. They certainly capture the beauty of her pieces and show off her skill as an artist.
This book offers plenty of inspiration.
The pictures and concepts in this book are truly inspirational. However, even an experienced beader will be frustrated when trying to follow some of the directions in this book as the author makes assumptions and gives poor directions. This book has gotten a lot of hype in the beading world - don't fall for it. Go to your library and look at the book first before you buy. Read some of the instructions carefully. At first it seems manageable, but when you get into the nuts and bolts of it you may find that it is not. Furthermore, the cost of these projects is exhorbitant. I am taking a little thing here and there I have picked up from the book and applying it to a few other projects. Otherwise, the book is nothing more than a table top book.
I have successfully made several of the projects in this book. Found the directiions more than sufficient and I am am intermediate beader. Just love this book.
I would have given this book 5 stars but I am having a very hard time doenloading to my nook hd. Works finne on nook color and tablet. Don't buy if you have a nook hd
