Overview

'Although we experimented with some very fanciful plots, I kept coming back to a very, very simple one; of just taking Mr. Bean to stay with a family on an American campus and letting him destroy their lives.'
Richard Curtis, 1995

So desperate are Mr. Bean's employers at the Royal National Gallery to get rid of him that they resort to pretending he is an eminent art critic and send him to America on a cultural exchange. Bean, the film, is the hilarious tale of Mr. Bean's adventures while staying with the Langley family in California.

As well as containing the script, this unique companion to Bean includes a foreword by director Mel Smith, together with Richard Curtis's diary charting the embryonic stages in the develpoment of the film and Robin Driscoll's views of the filming in LA. Other gems include a selection of early parts of the script that did not make it into the final cut, and a unique insight into the Mr. Bean character in his earlist incarnation, in the early 1980s, when he was known as Mr. Smith.

Lavishly illustrated with stills from the film and behind-the -scenes photgraphs, Bean: The Script Book is a must for the film buffs and Mr. Bean fans alike.
