All of this author's books are novellas with substance being traded for sex. Eighty-three pages of text that takes about an hour to read. Cute story with little character development. I want a story with some meat and I don't get it with this author. Tried six of her books, was disappointed with all.

3.5 stars / This was a cute Novella. I really wished that the books were longer so I could have gotten to know the characters a bit more but obviously that wasn’t the idea she had for this series. I thought it was a cute quick read. I liked it. I’m curious to see the other brothers with their woman. I liked the plot. Each book has a little bit of suspense/action and I really enjoy that. With lots and lots of romance/sexy scenes. Overall, I thought it was a hot and fast paced read. I loved seeing all of the previous characters from the other books too. I loved everyone is so close with everyone. I honestly just liked the atmosphere these books bring. If you are in a reading funk, then I would definitely recommend these books. They sure do the job. I’m really excited to see where this series goes. But, I can’t help but wonder something… Does the father get a book? I think he deserves his HEA. Happy Reading!

4 stars Again I have to say that if you are unsure about paranormal books, this is a perfect series to start with.  Well really you should start with Crying Wolf as this is a companion series and some of the character will cross over.  Author Rochelle Paige will have you wanting more from these shifter clans.   Finley is the pride and joy of her wolf clan.  They treat her like a princess and keep her out of the inner workings for clan life.  But she is not this meek girl that just sits back.  She knows she is here to help other and determined to do just that especially for what happened with Annora while she was part of their clan.   Alasdair is one of the triples of the McMahon bear clan.  He is still trying to come to terms with what happened to his sister when she was part of the wolf clan.  He has no desire to be with or around them.  They are nothing but weak to allow one of their own to be harmed.  But fate seems to have a twisted sense of humor when is comes to showing Alasdair his soul mate. When Alasdair and his family travel to the wolf clan on business, he comes face to face with the most beautiful creature ever.  She sings to his soul like no other.  And without another thought, he knows he must clan her as his own.  She is his and he is hers.  Finley can feel it too.  She is determined to accept what Fate has in store for her.   Will Finley accept that fairytales only exist in books?  Or will Alasdair be her Prince Charming?  Can he show her what true love means?   Will their joining bring together the Wolf and Bear clans?  Or will their union start a war?

5 star The story has laughs, secrets, pain, betrayal, and heartbreak. I was pulled right into this story. The story flowed well and I read in one sitting. If you have not read the other books in the series I would recommend reading them first Crying Wolf (Black River Pack, #1) Shoot for the Moon (Black River Pack #2) Thrown to the Wolves (Black River Pack #3) This is Alasdair and Finley’s story. After waiting to get answers about the treatment of his sister they finally confront the alpha of the pack.  Only problem is the Alpha’s daughter is his mate.  He can’t trust her father but still take her as his mate.  After he treats her like a closeted mate he expects her to stay with him.  After he and his family fail to heed a warning that almost ends in death she is done.  Can they work together to be a family and better mates? Or will she leave him to go back home where she was treated as a princess like she should have been with him? I loved all the characters in this story. Alasdair is hot, but also has a sweet side. Finley is strong but feels like Alasdair does not want her for anything but mating.  All in all I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was an awesome read.  I highly recommend this book, this series and this author.
