So many movies we watch have wonderful music, but when you buy the soundtrack, you find the music you loved is interspersed with other music that played a less important role in the movie and was not as lovely as the melodies that stayed in your mind. Buying a CD like this, with the best of any individual movie's scores, solves that dilemma. The Cincinnati Pops come through again, delivering under Erich Kunzel's masterful direction a CD to enjoy at any time. It can be background music while reading or writing, it can be listened to with full attention paid to the scores from 18 different movies. Not only is the music delightful in itself, it brings back the best scenes from these movies. Even though you may not know the name of the song, you will always recall the provocative "feather theme" from Forrest Gump. In a few cases, the music is so beautiful, I've had to look up the movie and then rent or buy it, just to listen to the rest of the movie and see if the music is as brilliant (it often is!). From love stories to historical drama to children's movies - they're all united by talented musicians, all celebrated in one superb CD.
