John Smelcer, PhD, is a shareholder of of Ahtna Inc. and a member of Tazlina Village Council and Tsisyu (�Paint�) Clan. He is the author of more than forty books, including his two Alaska Native dictionaries, The Ahtna Noun Dictionary and Pronunciation Guide (1998, 1999, rev. 2011) and The Alutiiq Noun Dictionary and Pronunciation Guide (2010). His writing has appeared in more than four hundred magazines.
