Sometimes love isn't beautiful...
Sometimes the only way to describe it is beautifully brutal.

If you think you know him... You're wrong.
If you think you know his family... Wrong again.
If you think you know his story... You don't.

If you did, you'd likely wonder how the hell a man like Maximillian Adorite managed to make it to this point in his life. At twenty-nine, he's experienced more than most people could only ever imagine, all thanks to his family. Organized crime they call it. Mafia.

No matter how they spin it, it comes down to one thing. Max gets what he wants. Except for the one thing he wants most.

Her name is Courtney Kogan.

And now that he's had a taste of her, Max knows he'll never be able to let her go.

The Southern Boy Mafia series is a spinoff from the Sniper 1 Security series. It has been set up to be read without reading Sniper 1 Security, however, the characters will frequently cross over.

I like my boys bad and this does not disappoint “Beautifully Brutal, that was how she’d come to think of this thing between them.” This is a departure from the typical story line we’ve all come to love from Nicole Edwards. It’s not cowboys or naughty clubs. It’s all about the bad boys and the bad things they do on the other side of the law. This is Courtney and Max’s story. Readers are introduced to them in Wait For Morning. Not a required read, but I do recommend (please read it’s very good). Ms. Edwards always provides background enough to catch you up, but not too much to bog/slow down the story’s flow. As the reader, you are presented their backstory, weaving through flashbacks to current day by chapter, to build up to a wild, HEA ride. I am a known fangirl of Nicole Edward’s novels. She is one of my go-to ‘fun’ reads. Never overly serious, dark or sad. I know I will get a HEA with a heavy dose of steam. Yes, Nicole is my number one – I want a HAWT scene I will never have the chance to experience. (Chapter 16 and 54 for bookmarked for later daydreaming.) She writes her Heroes with a huge dose of Alpha, and her Heroines strong and sassy. Beautifully Brutal does not disappoint my expectations from her writing. Her flashbacks are woven in the first third of the book to give you an understanding of the push/pull feelings our main characters. The push away is not maddening, but you come out as the reader understanding why Courtney and Max pressed the other away. We also have two characters that I wanted to shoot myself; as always, Ms. Edwards delivers agonists I have murderous thoughts about. Here’s where I change my typical description of a Nicole Edwards story. Yes, story. As I said, I have certain expectations to her writing. I know her style and I’ll get what I am looking for a fun, not overly serious reading experience. This book changes that expectation. Here you get intrigue and suspense. I got to 64% the way through the book and could not put it down because I had the –oh-my-god-what-is-going-to happen-next-its midnight-cannot-sleep-until-I-know-what-happens-next problem. For those of you never reading a work from this author and a fan of the genre, this will not disappoint. For those who have read Ms. Edwards before, it will not disappoint and give you more.

5 star I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, murder, kidnapping, suspense, hired killer, secrets and heartbreak.  If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first Wait For Morning (Sniper 1 Security, #1) This is Courtney and Max’s story. Courtney and Max were together but he is involved with some shady stuff and her family deals with the right side of the law.  So they know it’s better to be apart.  But what is no matter if you are together or not together danger follows you?  Can Max protect Courtney from afar?  Or can he get Courtney to understand they belong together?  Courtney does love Max but can they ever work when everyone is against the relationship? Will he be able to protect her from his own family?  Can she also work alongside of him and still not turn to the dark side?  Will she be able to protect his best interests if need be? I loved these characters and also the side characters. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.  I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story from this author.

Courtney works for Sniper 1 Security. She is sent to the underboss of the Southern Boy Mafia, Max Adorite, to get dirt on them. What she doesn't expect is to fall in love with him. Max will do anything to protect her even push her away. Sexy mobsters, crazy ex, interfering family, and sex so hot you'll need a shower after reading this. One thing though....I didn't like the going back and forth between now and past. I understand needing to tell about their past. I think it should have been told all at once. Just my opinion. But I loved it!

I only got two pages as well and B&N's solution was to have me archive it and then check again in 1-2 weeks to see if it was fixed.  Very disappointed!

Max is the man you love to hate. Courtney is the woman who drives you crazy with the turn of every page. From the very beginning, Max and Courtney together are a dangerously hot explosive couple. But being together can only tear their family ties apart. Beautifully Brutal gave me the highest highs and the lowest lows and the whole time wanting more. It was a roller coaster of emotions that didn’t end until the last page. It had me wondering will Max and Courtney get a Happily Ever After or simply just tear each other hearts apart. This is truly the best Nicole Edwards book to date. The story is not you typical Nicole Edwards romance. The more pain and drama the book had, the more it drew me in and had me hoping for happily ever after for all involved.

Overall Rating:  4.5 Rockin Stars Dear Nicole Edwards…     Once again you have out done yourself and I'm utterly at a loss in how to express the awesomeness of Beautifully Brutal.  The emotional turmoil and inner battle for the heroine and the animal magnetism, prowling from the hero combine to ignite this page turner.  You have written a masterfully crafted piece of fiction.  Max and Courtney come alive as their war for dominance sizzles between the cover of this novel.  I have been drooling with excitement to read this first book in the Southern Boy Mafia series.  The pull to read, relate and understand these characters had me enthralled and impatient to dive in. The crossover from the Sniper 1 Security series brings characters that we know and adore to the forefront, intermingling with new and exciting personalities.  The big State of Texas is where the showdown begins.  The couple finds themselves in the cross-hairs between family loyalty and everlasting love.  That alone setups this entertaining read, but you mix it up with danger, drama and unforeseen twists and you are in for an epic journey. Courtney Kogan knows a relationship with the infamous Maximillian Andrew Adorite is forbidden with no possible future.  They are like oil and vinegar and her job prevents her from taking what she desires...Max.  The question is how far is she willing to go? This story is about falling in love and damning the consequences and relishing the moment even if it’s...Beautifully Brutal. ***Received an ARC of this book from the Author in exchange for an honest review***
