One woman haunted by dreams. One man broken by his past. One destiny to decide…

After a tragic fire wrecked her family and destroyed her dreams, bartender Ella struggles to survive while pretending her nightmares are normal. She never imagined life could get worse until Daxen—sensual, snarly, and the supernatural force she'd been warned to avoid—shows up at her bar. When he drags her into a hidden society of shapeshifters and appoints himself her protector, Ella does what she does best: plots a way to escape her fate.

But the world Daxen belongs to holds answers to the mysterious power that burns inside Ella, and ignoring the sparks he enflames proves harder each day. While Daxen claims he can't love, his touch fires her senses. His kiss calls her to trust him. Surrender could be so sweet … if not for the secrets that could crush them both.

When enemies kidnap Ella's sister, Daxen and Ella must decide who and what to trust—and a wrong choice on either side may kill the love neither expected to find and plunge them both into a nightmare they can't escape.

Beautifully Burned is the second book in The Dreamcaster series, and we reunite with Dax. He still has his bond with Kalila, but is fed up of Black's attempts to kill him, and get rid of the bond. Mel has a vision which sends him to Ella's side, but he is confused as he doesn't think she is a Dreamcaster at all. Of course, he doesn't know about the adder stones gifted to her by her grandmother. There is a slight twist to this one, as Izzy is one of her regular customers. He shows his 'normal' side when Kalila shows up, reminding the reader of just how dangerous he can be. Dax and Ella have a hard path to tread, and it doesn't look good for them to begin with. With more nightmares and situations to deal with, this book will have you gripped to the pages. It is a fresh and exciting take on the paranormal genre, and I am loving everything. I can't wait to read more about Zaire, but then I also really want Izzy and Mel to get together! This is a fantastic series so far, and this book is also of the highest quality - with no editing or grammatical errors to disrupt my reading flow. The pacing was smooth, and the action was enough to make you catch your breath. Absolutely recommended by me. * A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and my comments here are my honest opinion. * Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!

Daxon and Ella pulled me in to their world and in to their lives, past and present. I was enthralled by the dynamics of the world that the Dreamcaster Series was taking place in. I was immediately captivated by the similarities and the differences between Dax and Ella. I was intrigued by the secondary characters including Lydon and Kalila. The bonds, deceit, fears, triggers, betrayal, connections to Wonderfully Wicked. There were similarities to the first read of the series but it did not detract from the two characters building their story here. Ella had many moments when I was just not sure about her. She keep me wondering what was she thinking. How could she do that? Dax had a few moments of me wanting to slap him hard. The connection that he had with Kalila and the paranoia he had about Lydon. This read fits right into the frame of things for the Dreamcaster Series. **This ARC was provided via Bewitching Book Tours in exchange for an honest review.**

"Beautifully Burned" is a continuation of the series about V'alkara and dreamcasters- this time with Daxen (or Dax) and Ella as the main characters. Your favorites still appear in this book (Alun, Lydon, Kalila, and Mel all make appearances), but the characters are new and could function as a stand-alone. I think I would have liked it better as a stand-alone. It felt very, very similar to the first book in that there's denied attraction between the two and some struggles for safety/fighting the bond. The characters felt pretty similar too. I think I would have liked it if they were different- maybe a story about Mel finding love and her powers as a prophetess. It would have felt more departed from the first book and branched out. That being said, I still enjoyed Dax and Ella's journey and their path to love/bonding. Please note that I received an ARC through netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

Once again, Burright had me hooked from the first sentence. Her eloquent yet buoyant writing style was very easy to connect with and the plot was both exciting and inviting. Burright is simultaneously fun and sassy in her writing. There is a darkness that winds itself under this tale while also opening up into an action packed, fast paced forward motion. This is the type of tale that draws readers in both with the inviting plot and the well thought out and intricate world building. I enjoyed how Burright continued to build on the concepts developed in the first novel in the series. Nothing was redeveloped, but everything continued to grow, making both the world and the story much more full. The complex relationship and dynamic between the main characters made them unforgettable. Yet at the same time, they were approachable and easy to identify with. I loved getting to know them as they came to know one another. The heat and the chemistry between them definitely helped as well. I loved the way that Burright invites readers in, making them feel as if they’re part of the characters’ lives, rather than simply bystanders. Burright has definitely created both a world and a cast that will allow you to travel outside of your own reality for the time that it takes you to read the novel (and maybe a while afterwards as well). It’s a great read that I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to others. Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

Daxon and Ella are the main characters this time around, but don't worry Lydon and Kalila are still very prominent(and adorable) throughout the book. Dax and Ella are similar, in that they both have overcome or are overcoming pains from their past. This is such a unique world, and I like that we're getting different main characters with each book. It keeps things fresh, and gives us different perspectives. This is definitely a favorite series for me! The ARC of Beautifully Burned was kindly provided to me by the author for review. The opinions are my own.

5 out ot 5 stars Gripping, funny and with it’s I-want-to-throw-the-book-but-can't-really-let-it-go moments! C.J Burright managed to weave dreams and reality again, chilling us with her nightmarish characters, but binding us with the love and strength of her characters. Things just turned worse for the characters but it definitely turned for the better for us readers!!! We can even learn new words… like… Fanflippintabulous!!!! WE HAVE A PAIR!!! This is the second book in The dreamcaster series. And if you haven’t read the first one, it’s no deal breaker, but I strongly suggest you read the first one in order to really understand the subtleties and the characters that make this book great. Here we have Ella, a young woman with the weight of the world on her shoulders. The owner of a bar, that is trying to stay afloat, and the care of her catatonic sister. She tries real hard to keep up with everything and on top of that she has nightmares that won't let her have a restful sleep, reliving the inferno and death of her grandmother, and making her afraid of fire. Still she makes the better of what she has. Except suddenly she is yanked from the life she knows and is being taken somewhere by a guy she doesn't even know, and really why trust him only because he stopped her heart when she first saw him? And there is this regular customer, a regular who suddenly morphed into a stranger, and apparently a deadly one. With no one to trust, who can she turn to? She still has to take care of her sister, and the bar. The Blue, a broken husk of a man, except for the bond with Kalila that brings him a little piece of peace, he is learning to live anew. But now he has to help and protect a dreamcaster that apparently is his. But to claim his dreamcaster, she has to claim him back, and to do so, he has to sever his bond with Kalila...sever the bond that brought him to life.. Will he be able to do it? All the while he need to learn to control his feelings, which he didn’t know he was capable of having, and dodge an invisible assassin. Can they find the courage to confide and trust that the other one will not betray them? We see recurring characters like The Black, Kalilia, and Mel, and also The White and Alun , a character that brings a spark of fun and joy for this book. I love that some of the character are not perfect, that Kalila still has her sourly disposition. That The Black is still a nightmarish guy, only tamed by his dreamcaster. And now we have a hint of what is to come!! We have a new enemy but we also have a new story that I cannot wait to read!! Definitely a series that I’ll keep reading!! And that I recommend!!
