Rebecca Thomas is living the American dream. She's successful, beautiful and married to her high school sweetheart. Life wasn't perfect, but it was close enough. At least that's what she thought until she received the phone call that would send her world spiraling out of control.

Malik Thomas has never been one to be faithful. It's not that he doesn't love his wife but papa was a rolling stone, and the apple didn't fall far from the tree. His motto was "a man's got to do what a man's got to do." That's until his past catches up with him and jeopardizes his future.

Natalie Hunter's social life is low, but her bank account is high. As the owner of Hunter Enterprises, her focus is finding and hiring nothing but the best for her agency. When she meets Jennifer, she knows that she has hit the jackpot. Unfortunately, Jennifer's past may leave them both in a bad predicament.

Jennifer Nilon is on the verge of becoming the successful model that she has always dreamed of. Not only is her career about to flourish but so was her relationship with Malik. The two things she loves more than anything in the world are within her grasp. Then an unexpected surprise threatens to derail everything and forces Jennifer to make some life-altering decisions for them both.

Beautifully Imperfect follows the lives of these four people as their worlds collide with such force, that they're all left picking up the pieces.

I loved this book! I could picture the characters vividly and I loved that it was unpredictable. Some books you read and know what is going to happen. Ms. Brown did an awesome job of keeping me guessing and wondering what was going to happen. It's a love story with a lot of drama and moments that had me ready to throw my nook. Rebecca and Malik's struggle to keep their love together hit home to me. The characters were believable and I cried more than once. If you are looking for a story that will take you away from reality while making you fall in love with the characters, Beautifully Imperfect is it. I hope there is a sequel so that I can see what happens to everyone. Great job and I hope the author keeps writing.

I was in need of change of pace from the typical "urban fiction" and this is what was right before me. Phoenix told a story that was undoubtedly Beautifully Perfect. My favorite line from her book just happened to be "I guess that's what makes our situation beautifully imperfect." She said. "We finally have a beautiful child but sadly it's an imperfect situation." Don't sleep on Phoenix, I'm sure there is more to come.. waiting on her next addition to my library.

I'm not sure what the expectations of the reader who gave this a two was. This story was excellent and my expectations were met and exceeded by this debut novel. I had never heard of Phoenix Brown before but I kept seeing posts on Facebook about this book. I must tell you that the book was great! I loved it! The storyline was like reading a movie. I could see each character in my head and each scene being played out. The story is about a woman who is married to a man who is unfaithful. It's not your typical cheating type of story. It has twists, turns, moments of laughter and moments you want to strangle the characters. I couldn't stop reading it. The only thing I would like is another book so I can see how the lives of the characters played out. Rebecca will make you feel sorry for her then you will despise her. Malik will make you hate him and then feel sorry for him. Jennifer will have you ready to kill her but the things she goes through will have you shaking your head. Natalie and Charles are the best friends of Malik and Rebecca and you will root for them to find happiness just as much as you root for Rebecca and Malik. I can't say enought how much i really enjoyed this book. Take a chance on a new author. Phoenix will surprise you and she has a fan in me. I hope she keeps writing.

I loved this book and the sequel to it, all that matters in the end. I am convinced that those leaving one or two star reviews are simply hating on this author's talent. The book was not at all predictable so the person who gave it two stars obviously didnt' read it. The wriing style of this author is to tell the story from each characters point of view but she executes it perfectly with the name of the person beginning each new chapter. The book itself was filled with twists, turns and jaw dropping drama. I didn't see the ending coming at all!!! It's a book about everyday people in everyday sitautions. Perhaps those who left one or two stars prefer the shoot em up, drug dealer type of books. Ms. Brown's characters shows the other side of african american people. The ones who have real life issues and try to deal with them as adults. We are all vulnerable in some kind of way and she shows that in all of the characters. You see every side of them and you will love and hate them all at some point in this book. Great job Ms. Brown. If you read these reviews i hope you dont' allow the negative ones to deter you from writing because you have a fan in me for life.

Wow! The drama that happens in this book is crazy!!! I was glued to my nook for a straight 4 hours! I hope this is a series. I need to know what happens with Zoe's parents. I hated Malik but the author made me feel bad for him in the end. Can't wait to read more from Ms.Brown!

I was not sure what to expect from this book, and I must admit that I reluctantly began reading it on a Saturday evening. The book in my view was well written, keeping you guessing and interested in the lives of these fictional characters as if you personally knew them. I had to keep turning the page to find out what was going to happen next. I finished this book by Sunday, and I look forward to reading furthur books by this author.

Oh my goodness! I started this book last night after finishing the short story Damaged Goods by the same author. Wow! Wow! Wow! Completely different story but same affect on me. I really loved this book. I was confused a little at first because unlike Damaged Goods this book uses characters names to symbolize the start of a new chapter. Once I got use to that it was on! I am not going to lie. I was ready to kill Malik e beginning but what i liked about this author is that I was able to love the characters one minute and dislike them the next. Just like in real life. This authors bio says she wants to provide realistic fiction to her readers and she does just that with this story. It's a love story but not your usual sappy romance. This story could easily be a movie the way it plays out in your head. I am now an official fan of Phoenix's and am off to read the sequel to this to find out how life has changed for these characters. I can't believe I'm this excited about an author. Hasn't happened for me since I became a fan of Eric Jerome Dickey's work and I can almost stand out on a limb and say Ms. Brown is well on her way to being one of the new authors headed for that same greatness.

I loved this book! Real life situations! Characters I could identify with! It's not the normal love story of boy meets girl and romantic rah rah rah. It's a realistic portrayal of love and the things we do for it. Can't wait to read more from this author!

One never knows what the next step will be when life hands you a situation that is so wrong, nothing about it is good.  As Malik comes face to face with the reality that Jennifer, the lady he chose to cheat on his wife with, was pregnant, Rebecca comes face to face with the realization that her marriage was forever changed.  Their best friends work hard, helping the two of them with navigating the hurdles of 'do I stay,' 'do  I go,' and a number of life altering decisions in between.  Author Brown adds just enough drama to the mix to keep this story flowing, and she's definitely written a winner here.  This isn'tt a boy meets girl love story or a shoot 'em up hood story.  Yet, there is enough grit and grime, enough chaos and mayhem, and enough kissing and making up to give anyone a fulfilling read.

I give it two stars because of the effort the author put into it, however, I found this book to be too choppy, poorly written & very predictable. I was told editorial reviews here are reviews the author puts up themselves. No wonder, since i didn't see anything but a book i will not read again.
