These songs illustrate the struggles and wonders of the lives of professional dancers. Through the music of the verse and rhythm of the phrases, the songs reveal some of the wonders of the world of dance that inspire the poet's work as they instruct and guide his life. The cycle of songs, Beauty beyond Reason, will eventually be performed as a ballet chanté.
