A Diamond Magnate Dark Romance Novel

"An epic dark romance with heart-breaking depth and sizzling sensuality!" — Anna Zaires, New York Times bestselling author

Six years ago, Harold Dalton framed me for theft and sent me to jail to steal my diamond discovery. He gave his daughter to Jack Clarke in exchange for the excavation rights. Today, I'm walking free, and I'm coming for him with a vengeance. Six years of cruelty make beasts out of men. I'm going to take back what he stole from me, and more. I'm not interested in his properties or shares. I don't want his small change. I want his biggest asset. Beautiful, mentally unstable, Angelina Dalton-Clarke.

Worth billions, she's the wealthiest widow in the country, and also the craziest. Her self-harming tendencies had Jack declare her incompetent before he put a gun to his head and blew out his brains. Lina isn't allowed to touch a cent of her riches. Her father manages her finances. He has all the signing power. As her husband, that chore will fall to me. But if she thinks I only want her for her money, she's sadly mistaken.

* This is a standalone novel with no cliffhanger.

I thoroughly loved reading the phenomenal dark romance story. After six years in jail, Damian comes seeking his revenge to the man who stole everything from him. Damian takes his daughter, Angelina, who is mentally unstable, for his wife. Angelia has spent the last six years of her life fighting to survive. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, riveting book from the beginning until the end, and a must read love story of two broken souls weathering the storm to find each other.

★ Riveting and gritty, this dark romance will draw you in ★ —>>> Angelina “Lina” Dalton’s life has been far from what the media and society portrays her, which is as a young, mentally disturbed, now-extremely wealthy widow. When Damian is released from jail, a six-year term served as an innocent man wrongly accused, he sets out on his disturbing path to bring to rights what was done to him at the hands of Harold Dalton, the man responsible. And it starts with his daughter, who he manipulates into his home, as his wife in the bargain. Lina’s fight for daily survival has taken a toll on her at the hands of her father and her ex-husband. She now is a fresh pawn to yet another man who is in utter control of every aspect of her life - her husband, Damian Hart. He is ruthless, brutal, and untrusting, so very changed from the boy she had met those years ago when she had just turned eighteen. Surrounded by people in their household to whom she realizes she cannot turn her back on, Lina has to do what she has to in order to ensure she will survive this latest devilry in her life. Maybe, just maybe, for once in her life, she can claw her way out to get some support to make it out in one piece, if only to put to rest the soul-sucking elements in her past. And Damian may just realize too late all the innocence and goodness she has been already been betrayed far too long for.

I received an ARC for a honest review. This is a darker romance than the other books I've read by this author and just as good. It starts off as a revenge story for the hero since he was sent to prison by then heroine's father. At first the heroine seemed so lost in the world and in her own mind. It was dark and suspenseful on that there are a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes. No one seems to be in control.....neither the H or the h. Over time Damien realizes the revenge is taking a backseat to his feelings for the Lina. And Lina slowly finds her footing in her life with Damien. In fact she becomes stronger in mind and body.......because in the beginning she was so fragile, it was almost too hard to read about her. The heat factor is off the charts for these 2, but remember this is a dark romance.

Holy mackerel this is one dark story. Damian is a complete jerk at times but one one hand you can understand why and then on the other hand you just want to knock him upside his head. Lina is a sweet young lady that boy do we see growing throughout the story. It is a gripping story that has you wishing you could stop reading but it is so intriguing that you can’t put it down. The characters are well developed and the writing is fantastic. It has a superb storyline that can feel so realistic to the end. It is definitely worth reading and doesn’t disappoint.

Ms. Pauls has a wonderfully creative and diabolical mind and I mean that as the highest compliment. Beauty in the Broken is riveting, compelling and so deliciously twisted with every turn of the page I felt like I was tip-toeing across the Grand Canyon on a high wire while the characters took me an an emotional roller coaster ride of lust and revenge. Damian Hart is one of the most ruthless, vicious and sadistic characters I have ever encountered in a “dark romance” but just when I thought he could never be redeemed the man behind the monster would surface and he would become a very sympathetic character. Angelina Dalton-Clarke has always been a pawn for rich men to abuse and Damian is no different when he forces her to marry him against her will and holds her prisoner in his home. Lina’s character is scarred and broken both emotionally and physically and I felt every single minute of her absolute terror as she tries to leave the shell of herself behind so she might become a woman who can stand on her own two feet. Damian and Lina are two amazingly complex characters whose unbelievable story will linger with me for a very long time to come. I read an early copy of this book and all opinions expressed in my voluntary review are completely my own.

This is a dark deep story that draws you in and doesn't let go Angelina (Lina) is broken in so many ways and as Damian tries to help her he could break her even more Meanwhile he is plotting revenge on the people who falsely accused him leading to time in jail just so they could get hold of his diamond claim. Be prepared to get drawn in and also the fact that once you start reading this book you won't want to put it down early hour reading anyone

Beauty in the Broken is a whirlwind! That is honestly the best way to describe this decent into darkness. I think I might even have landed in Oz that how turned about I was. Charmaine Pauls does dark and dirty so well. Beauty in the Broken is a learning curve for both parties. Preconceived notions and judgmental thoughts rule their minds. The difference is one wants revenge and the other wants freedom. Each is willing to play a part in order to get what they want. They never expected their goals to change, feelings to develop, or secrets to get out. I loved being on edge. I certainly didn't mind the pleasure. I may have even craved some of the pain. I definitely fell for a monster. And you know what they say, once you go dark...

5 riveting stars! Review by Nancy Late Night Reviewer Up All Night w/ Books Blog A fascinating and all-consuming read, Beauty In The Broken, by Charmaine Pauls, monopolized my every thought. It is dark, twisted, vengeful and thrilling. An emotional roller-coaster that had me straddling a line between hating and loving the hero. The first encounter Angelina and Damian ever had was brief but impactful. You can almost say it was love at first sight. That is the moment Damian decided he wanted her, but fate had other plans for both of them. Damian had recently been let out of jail and had vowed to take revenge on those who unjustly put him there. Not only did Harold steel his mine, but he had him put in jail. Now a free man, Damian is going after him and plans on taking the only thing that matters to him, his daughter, Angelina. He has heard rumors that she is damaged goods. According to others she is insane and has tried to take her life on multiple occasions. Damian doesn’t care, he has an agenda and he will do whatever it takes to get his vengeance. The problem is not all things are as they seem. When Damian gets a glimpse of who Angelina really is, he has a hard time remembering his end game. He knew she’d belong to him from the moment he set his eyes on her, but all these years later has changed them both and not for the better. Angelina makes my heart hurt. She is by far one of the strongest heroines I have ever read. She has been through hell and back and still manages to live her life. No matter what the people around her say, she knows the awful cards life has dealt her. Her life became shambles the moment she married her now-deceased first husband. He was her worst nightmare come to life. After she was finally free of him, she hid away. Most thought she was crazy and still mourning her husband. But really she just wanted to hide away from the world. That is until Damian walks back into her life and doesn’t give her a choice but to marry him. She married him but felt nothing but spite for him. At least until she realizes he is nothing like the ruthless, heartless man he pretends to be. Angelina finds herself deeply in love with her husband, but nothing in her life is that simple. This book was gripping! A dark romance with a revenge trope. Despite its dark context, it does have a happily ever after. One that is so deserved. By the end of the book, I was absolutely in love with both Damian and Angelina. C. Pauls is new to me author. I am so glad I picked up this book because I loved it. This book was written in a way that sucked me in from the very first chapter and had me at the edge of my seat from beginning to end! I will definitely be looking out for her other releases.

Wow, this really was a fabulous read, one that from the instant I started I just couldn't put down. Uniquely set in South Africa this one is a standalone story taking place within the powerful world of Diamond mining. At the centre of the storm here we have Damien and Lina. So the latter's father set Damien up sending him to prison and then stealing his diamond mine. Damien is now a total badass with the criminal connections to match after his stint behind bars, so It's inevitable that Damien is now out for blood when he is finally released. Emerging from his incarceration a totally changed man there are only a few things now that Damien desires and at the top of his list is his enemies daughter Lina followed by the total annihilation of her dirty dealing father. So this was at its heart a revenge and forced marriage trope. Damien himself I found to be very controlling and though his behaviour at times really bordered on the extreme this was more because of his own internal jealousy rearing its ugly head. The man was really his own worst enemy when it came to dealing with Lina totally escalating situations beyond what is actually normal With his penchant for punishment and pain, this could have gone badly astray luckily Damien's inner darkness and intensity was slightly tempered by the fact that it was quite apparent from the start that rather than make Lina pay what he really wants is her regard and ultimately her heart. He just has a really crap way of accomplishing his ultimate goal. In this regard a totally obsessive and rigid alpha male So if this is your jam then you're in luck as this is totally heavy in that direction. Lina herself is extremely damaged and all think her crazy because of her supposed past actions. She also doesn't do herself any favours either her lack of sharing really doesn't help her overall situation: though I could hardly blame the poor girl for playing her cards so close to her chest considering her past history, a truth that Damien himself seems overly oblivious to despite the many clues heavily dropped less than subtley in his direction. Despite Damiens extremely dark mood swings and somewhat cavalier attitude I actually didn't find this one that dark. Maybe because of just how much this showcased to me Damien's inner turmoil and feelings I could deal. He also was really aware of showing her the respect she has lacked in the past in regards to other people and the public and he doesn't want her humiliated publicly in any way, I really liked that fact about him that he cared enough to draw himself in slightly. Don't mistake me he still put Lina in some awful situations behind closed doors which were at times hard to get a handle on his whys. This was also so heartbreakingly tragic in places and my heart hurt at times for poor Lina past treatment especially when the full extent of her past finally became apparent here. This book just has so much going for it and it is one that I recommend highly. well written and with a style that makes for such ease of reading this one was a definite page-turner straight from the start. I voluntary reviewed a copy of Beauty in the Broken.

-A story that will break your heart -The perfect antihero -A beautiful broken girl -Lies, secrets, and vengeance -Dark, lustful scenes Beauty in the Broken is…heart-wrenching, beautifully written, and darkly twisted. There are few books that I want to go back and reread, but this is one of them. I have always loved Charmaine Pauls' books, but I do believe she has outdone herself with this book. I feel that she has written Damian and Lina's story from the depths of her soul, ahhh and what a dark soul that must be (haha). These two characters are so perfectly broken, both separately and together, you can't help but fall in love with them. Their story is not pretty; it's raw, dirty and utterly compelling; you will not be able to put it down. Beauty in the Broken is a malevolent story filled with power hungry men, revenge, unbridled violence, secrets, blackmail and best of all, a profoundly dark, obsessive, twisted love one man has for one woman. Damian Hart was a doomed young, naive man when he walked into Harold Dalton's house. Damian made two mistakes; the first one being, trusting Harold Dalton with the diamond mine he discovered, the second, falling in love with Harold's daughter Lina. However, Harold has also made mistakes; he stole Damian's diamond mine and framed him for a crime he didn't commit, but more importantly, he underestimated Damian Hart. Damian has had six, long, hard years in prison to perfect his revenge. Planning his vengeance may have propelled Damian through his years in prison, but prison made Damian into a dark, hard man. A man who will do anything, hurt anyone, to get what he wants and what he desires. Moreover, that one thing is Lina. Angelina Dalton-Clarke, Lina, is our beautifully broken heroine. Her father has used her to advance himself in the diamond business by basically selling her into marriage with Jack Clarke. When Clark kills himself, Lina becomes one of the richest women in South Africa, but before he does he has Lina declared incompetent. Upon Clark's death, Lina's father conveniently takes control of her fortune. For me, Lina was the perfect combination of soft and feminine, but she was also tough as nails, a true survivor. She has suffered dearly at the hands of men that were supposed to love and cherish her. Through all her suffering she stayed strong to herself, resilient, she never gave up. This story is expertly written, and from the first page to the last, I was hooked. This story is a dark romance, not a warm a fuzzy read. Please expect to be challenged by what our heroine must endure. At times, I felt so connected to Lina I could have cried. Ms. Pauls creates characters that you will fall in love with and others that you will hate to the depths of your soul. I felt that the story was original and expertly told, so expect to be consumed by this book. She perfectly captures the lust, love, obsession and even the hate that Damian and Lena feel for each other. Their pull towards each other begins from the first innocent moment they meet and six years later explodes in an erotic ride that had me blushing in the best way possible. Ms. Pauls is the master of the dark erotic genre. My advice to you is clear your calendar and be prepared to be obsessed with this book. ***I kindly received this book from the author. I was not contacted, asked or required to leave a review. I received no compensation, financial or otherwise. I have voluntarily read this book, and this review is

This book was beyond incredible! Damien and Lina's romance is filled with soul deep emotion and devastating pain. I fell for both these characters so hard that it wasn't even funny. I feel it is only fair to warn you of two things. 1. This book has some very dark scenes and subject matter. If you have any doubts about whether this book is for you, in my opinion it is not. 2. Prepare yourself and clear your schedule. This book quite simply consumed me. Everything that stood between me and reading even just one more page was an annoyance and an inconvenience. Work, friends, family, errands, eating and sleeping all suffered from my desire to keep reading this book. So, you've been warned. Lina and Damien's story touched my heart in so many ways. It was impossible not to feel horribly for both of them. The things that they suffered through and survived were both heartbreaking and horrifying. At its center this is a story of love. The kind of love that is sweet, innocent and forever. It is also the story of how that love is corrupted and how it becomes irrevocably broken and twisted into a much different love. A broken love that is dark, controlling, secretive, obsessive and often painful. And yes, as the title suggests, there is beauty in the broken. The beauty of a love that can endure everything that anyone throws at it. Including years of separation, lies, secrets, danger, betrayals and brutality. A love that can be tender and caring, while also being hard and exacting. Lina and Damien have stolen a piece of my heart and their story will linger in my mind. This is a book that easily earned the five stars I gave it (I would give it more if I could) and its place on my keeper shelf. If you are looking for a book that will grip your mind, touch your heart and leave a mark on your soul with a rollercoaster ride of raw emotions and exquisite pain, grab this book now! All thoughts and opinions in this review are completely my own.

Beauty in the Broken is a long, standalone romance and it was a nice change to read a couple's entire story in one book. The story has darker elements but it is not really dark on my scale, more of a gray. Similarly, there are some pain/punishment elements of BDSM, but I wouldn't classify it as a BDSM romance either. Really, it would be better to say that the author took a few characteristics of those types of stories (and a few others besides) and turned it into something unique and compelling. The heroine, Lina, had a terribly painful past, the details of which are slowly revealed, to the reader and even more so, the hero. She suffered horribly from unfairness/injustice - typically one of the things I hate reading about the most - but it wasn't too much for me in this book, it just had me anticipating when she would finally get her much deserved happy ending. Damian, well, he is one of my favorite kinds of heroes. He's hard and unforgiving with those who have wronged him but completely loyal to and fiercely protective of the woman he loves (even before he knows he does). There is great heat (if an overabundance of the word "globes" for my taste) and some lines that I absolutely adored woven throughout the entire book. There was something a little off that I can't quite put my finger on that keeps this from earning five stars from me, but I really enjoyed the journey these characters took in both their personal growth and their love story. I read a free copy of this book that had presumably not yet received a final proofread.

#2019TopReads Jesus Christ on a cracker … wow. I just burst out laughing because I was about to write “holy dark/twisted greatness batkids” but that doesn’t even scratch the surface of what I just read. If I use those words to describe what this story emanates, you’re not going to get the correct idea. BECAUSE IT IS SO MUCH MORE. If you’re a sensitive reader (and by sensitive, I mean you want your fiction to be gumdrops and rainbows because if you wanted real life, you’d just … I dunno what, but I know you know what I mean), walk away now. This isn’t for you. Seriously. Just walk away. You’ve been warned. This book took me longer than expected to finish. NOT because I wasn’t balls to the wall invested in every word of the story, but because I had to take mini breaks, or I might give myself a stroke. The story itself is powerful and the prose is charged. That’s the easiest way to make you understand. The author will pull you into this story and as you read, you will feel like it’s happening around you. Like you’re right there as it all happens. There aren’t that many authors I’ve ever read that can accomplish that; this is one of them. She’s managed to do it with every book I’ve read of hers. She is unstoppable in her talent. Okay, so let’s talk about the journey to HEA for Damian and Lina. There is a lot to their story. So much so that you might even be tempted to think “too much” or “unnecessary drama”, but I can assure you, it is none of those things. Yes, there are a lot of twists in this story you must keep up with, but the author has done an impeccable job of layering every single one to make a smooth transition into the next. There is so much darkness to both Damian and Lina, that I had to remind myself this was a standalone LOL I had serious doubts about their HEA on many occasions but then I realized something … They may have been two people full of darkness, but they were each other’s light. They were each other’s redemption. I can’t give you a play by play of this journey because … well, there’s too many LOL But I can say the title of this book is spot on to this journey. It’s a beautifully broken path of two people destined to find light thru darkness. It’s rough and it’s not pretty, but it is magnificent. #TRUST

Monsters have hearts too Beauty in the Broken is a compelling story of revenge, love, lies and secrets. This is my first read by Charmaine Pauls and I just fell down a rabbit hole with this. This book may have some triggers for some so be warned it’s not a fluffy love story. Lina has been through so much in her life. She’s been broken down for years and thrust into a life where her freedom and self esteem has been stolen from her. Forced to live in a world where she’s been a pawn and captive by people who were suppose to protect and love her. They declared her crazy and incompetent, lied to others just to have control over her. To take everything from her, but why? Six years is a long time, long enough to soak in the juices of your vengeance until your heart is cooked in all that bitter acid. Six years of cruelty and torture make beasts out of men. Damian has six years of his life stolen from him. Growing up poor, he finally has something that will bring him up in the social position he knows he’s worth. But to his dismay his plan was both idiotic and completely out of his depth. He met his fate and destiny in one night. Lina. The beautiful young girl who showed him kindness, but was way above his league. And her father who framed and stolen from him. His life was no longer on the path he thought it would be. It was headed to prison and it gave him six years to come up with a plan to get what was rightfully his. The mine and Lina. She’s been the focus of my fantasies, both the vengeful and lustful kind, for the past six years. Damian is back and his focus is on making his enemies pay and getting the girl he wants. Forcing marriage on Lina, Damian is getting more than what he bargained for. His obsession with Lina May just cloud his judgement and what he’s truly after. But once everything starts unraveling Damian soon realizes that Lina is truly the one who might have suffered. Yes at times he’s domineering and controlling, but he’s doing it because she’s what he wants. Lina is such a strong character and with Damian she finally shows some defiance. Defiance that he both loves and hates. These two have so many forces trying to keep them apart. The corruption of many seems to set obstacles that they need to jump through to maybe get a HEA. The dark and dangerous world these two are thrust in goes along with the intense and searing sex that brings us to our knees. Holy cannoli it’s scorching! Can these two break through the barriers trying to keep them apart? Will Damian get his revenge on those who deserve nothing but the hell he went through? Charmaine Paul wrote such complex characters that weave together a tangled love story. I found myself very invested in both of their past and present lives. I found myself twisted up with emotions as every detail was revealed. Beauty in the Broken is full of corruption and lies, but it’s also full of an all consuming love story that persevered through every deterrent. This was addicting and the writing was deliciously emotional and erotic. Definitely checking out more from this author.

Another phenomenal story from Charmaine Pauls, Beauty in the Broken was dark, engrossing and addictive. This story will grab you from the start and have you at the edge of your seat throughout. With twists and turns around every corner you won't know what to expect. There were so many lies and deceit yet so much truth to be unveiled. This story was about revenge and obsession that eventually turns into love, it was full of pain and control and Charmaine took us on a heart-pounding and nail biting journey to reach to love. This novel was well-written, layered and highly descriptive and it will evoke a range of emotions from you as the story progresses. The main characters were complex, flawed yet very well-developed. You will easily fall in love with Lina and Damian two broken characters in their own right and their individual story will break your heart. Their chemistry was intense and there was a certain edginess to their steamy scenes. The addition of the extended characters greatly added to this dark storyline. Charmaine Pauls did an amazing job with this page-turner. Full of betrayal, hate, greed balanced by passion, strength and love I loved it and would highly recommend it to all lovers of dark romances.

3.5 stars I'm so glad this happened to be a standalone. I have read the author's previous work called "The Loan Shark Duet." When "Beauty in the Broken" came out after reading the synopsis, I wanted to check it out. For me, this one didn't suck me in like the duet did. It has a slow build up in the beginning for me to actually get into the story. Don't get me wrong it still has the dark romance vibe and I felt bad for Lina especially what we find out what happened in her past, but I couldn't connect with the main characters. I would still recommend this one though a few twists do happen in the end that I didn't see coming. I plan on checking out more of Charmaine's work. I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

There is beauty in the broken. I was broken by this book, but in the most beautiful way. Charmaine Pauls ripped my heart out of my chest, broke it many times, then finally put it back in my chest at the end. I was immediately captivated with this world at the beginning of the book and with Damian and Lina as characters, and it didn’t let me go until the end. Lina went through so much that it broke my heart, but the journey to who she is at the end was well deserved. Damian deserves to get his revenge for what was done to him, and the last six years have broken him as well. Damian is obsessed with Lina and would do anything for her which I appreciated, but some of the times he punished her were brutal to read. That is why I gave the book 4 stars - some of Damian’s punishments were hard and uncomfortable for me to read. He does redeem himself in the end! Damian and Lina’s love story is as broken and beautiful as I have ever read. If you want a book that transports you to another world with a story and characters that don’t let you go until you get to the end, then read this book!

This book blew me away! If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would. I loved both the hero and the heroine and the writing was phenomenal. This is a darker book but I would put it at a mid-level dark. The heroine has suffered horrible abuse but it's mostly past tense so you don't have to endure the actual acts in the book. In present time, she is mistreated by a side character but not to the extremes of her past. This is why I say it's mid-level dark. The hero is into BDSM and he does punish her by those methods. I never felt he was cruel to her but this is my perspective. He was always aware of her limits and took very good care of her. Damian is obsessed with Lina ever since he laid eyes on her at her fathers dinner party. That night is a catalyst to his downfall orchestrated by her father and he believes by the heroine, as well. He's a very dangerous man and that is due to what her father did to him. When he gets out of jail, his first action is to take the heroine in a forced marriage. For a man who believes the heroine betrayed him, he treated her with such care and protected her to extremes. Lina was such a strong heroine. I can't even imagine the horrors she dealt with and she was never truly broken. She is one of my favorite heroines and would love to see more like her. Damian is dark, edgy and extremely possessive of Lina. I am such a huge fan of this type of hero and he surpassed my expectations. Again, I want more heroes like Damian. I could list so many things that made me love this book but I also don't want to spoil anything for other readers. To me, this is a must read!

Love from the darkness... A dark and intense read... Vengeance, survival, misunderstandings, pain, and light within the dark... This book was long, but well worth the hours I was glued to it! Really enjoyed seeing how things played out! A book I will remember!

Oh my gosh and holy heck! This book had me wrapped in its clutches from the first page until the last! And I never wanted it to end. Six years ago a poor young Damian attended a dinner party, met a beautiful young girl he would never forget, and ended up in prison for six years. Now he’s out to not only regain what was stolen from him, but for revenge. As part of his plan, he forces that young woman into marriage, a marriage where he will remain in complete control of every legal decision on her behalf and complete control of her body. ”You married me for money and sex. If you have both, why not let me go? What more could you possibly want?” “For you to need me like food and water.” Lina remembers that young boy from six years ago. He would be impossible to forget. But her life suddenly went from merely being unwanted to being very complicated. That tends to happen when you’re announced as incompetent, crazy, and suicidal. Now that young boy has returned but in his place is a cold, hard man and his demands might actually help her to find the one thing that means more to her than anything ever has or ever will. Gah! I absolutely loved Damian and Lina. Damian is a dark, dangerous hero with some serious possessive tendencies. Jealous, protective, “mine” mentality? Check, check and CHECK! ”How does one put obsession in words? How do I look her in the eyes and confess that I’ll hunt her to the end of her days? I’ll never set her free…” He also derives desire from inflicting pain and while his methods in that area with Lina were absolutely sizzling there were times that I was uncomfortable. But then again, so was Lina. Neither one of these characters trust freely, if at all, and this type of sexual relationship requires a huge amount of trust. My heart hurt for Lina, for all she had survived. But my gawd, the girl was strong, resilient and determined. Even as life beat her down, even as her husband spread his darkness across her skin, and even as her freedom always remained out of her reach, she never gave up. She wasn’t your usual kick@$$ heroine. Her strength was not in her muscles or fighting abilities, it was in her determination to throw off her mantel of “crazy” as well as to find that one bit of information she so desperately needed. The chemistry between Damian and Lina was true and honest upon their first meeting. The next time, things take a more dangerous turn. From that point onward their relationship was constantly shifting and evolving, sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. While Damian did some things that I found hard to accept, there is no doubt that “the grovel” was real even if presented in a different style than what we’re used to reading. I LOVED his method because as much as he adored and loved and couldn’t live without Lina, he ultimately wanted her happiness. Sigh and Swoon – after the angst fest of course. I’m totally recommending this to anyone who likes a little dark with their romance, a heroine who has some serious past baggage, and a hero who will do just about anything to keep her.

This book is an awesome read but please be aware that what makes this story so brilliant and intriguing includes some very dark subjects. There is abuse, pain, anger, loss, aggression, jealousy and hate all of which could be an issue for some people. If you are ok with reading that and enjoy dark romance novels then you are in for a real treat. I advise you to switch off your phone, make sure the family have what they need, get a drink and find a comfy seat as you shall not want to move for a few hours as you read this book cover to cover!
