Beauty's Beast by Carolyn Faulkner

Taren Cavanaugh and her brother, Sam, run the Circle Star Ranch – a working cattle ranch outside of Albuquerque, N.M.

Bruce 'The Bruce' McCullough is a well-known actor who could have his choice of any woman on the planet – and most of the men. He came to the Circle Star to learn what modern ranching was like, to prepare for his next movie role.

What he didn't expect to find was the love of his life, Taren, who set his heart to racing and his blood to boiling, some times at the same time, so that he often wasn't sure whether to spank her or make love to her. The result was sometimes both!

Taren, however, must come face-to-face with the scars of her past before she can even consider that a future with the handsome Scottish actor is a real possibility and not just a fleeting dream.

YOU’RE BEAUTY, AND I’M THE BEAST A fantastic twist on Beauty and the Beast, with a great cast of characters, and an HEA ending. Taren Cavanaugh helps run the family Circle Star Ranch with her brother Sam. They are contacted by Hollywood’s favorite, and People’s magazine, Sexiest man, Bruce 'The Bruce' McCullough, to train, learn, and get the feel of ranch life for his new movie role. Sometimes you have someone come into your life that doesn’t see the physical, but into your heart and soul. Bruce is enamored with Taren when he meets her, and he is genuine. Taren has built a thorny hedge around herself, to guard against human cruelty. Bruce refuses to allow her to make disparaging comments about herself, engage in harmful behavior and repeatedly shows her that he does not just talk the talk, but he is a man of conviction and action. Every girl needs a special man to make her feel beautiful, no matter what others may see. And sometimes, it takes a painful lesson on a naughty girl’s bottom for her to know that he is sincere and does not make idle threats. It is one thing to become friends and lovers when hidden away from the world, but what will happen when Hollywood fans join in the mix? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and when love strikes, it pierces the heart with cupid's arrow for these two unlikely souls.

This was a good book that I enjoyed reading. It didn't love it and didn't hate it. I have tried to think about why my emotions never fully engaged, and still haven't come up with an answer. I really liked the premise of the story, it was well written, it had lot's of hot scenes and I really liked each of the characters and wanted them to be happy with each other. Please don't think I am saying there was something missing in this book, or something wrong! I just have to give my honest take/review of the book. MY bottom line of this book is:This book gave me everything I ask for in a book, and I did enjoy the story; but for some unknown reason, it just didn't move me. *4.5 stars* I would love to hear Bruce’s Scottish brogue… Set on a working ranch, Bruce McCullough was an actor who needed to understand the life of a cowboy. Sam was teaching Bruce the ropes but Sam’s sister Taren was knotting them up! Taren knows she is completely out of Bruce’s league but she can’t help but be enamored with the handsome and charming man suddenly living in her home. Held back by physical scars, and the mental anguish that still haunts her, Bruce is determined to pull her out of her shell… and into his arms. I love this author’s emotional and sexy stories and Bruce and Taren’s romance is exactly why. With a balance of heat and love, snark and vulnerability, their dance is age-old even in the twenty-first century. With so many reasons they shouldn’t work, including Bruce’s heavy-handed insistence that she be respectful of herself, they each offer what the other didn’t even realize they were missing. Acceptance, support and a love to stifle all the critics. A spanking-ly, sweet take on the ‘beauty and the beast’ trope, this is a story for anyone who ever felt they weren’t good enough. Until love proved them wrong… "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book."

Another great story from Carolyn Faulkner. Good romance with some spanking. Sometimes it was for stupid reasons but Bruce was only trying to make Taran like herself.I think he went overboard a few times since they weren't even dating. A great romance. A HEA ending. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.

The author does it again! This author is one of my favorite and with this couple, Taren and Bruce, she does not disappoint. I love that Taren is a damaged heroine that is strong and feisty. I adore Bruce because he is very dominant and sees Taren as the beautiful woman that she is. I was definitely a cheerleader for Bruce during this story as I wanted these two amazing people to have their happily ever after. The spankings in this story were definitely warranted and great to read, although I was glad that I wasn’t the one on the receiving side. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

This book is a classic retelling of the truism that beauty is more than skin deep, with the original roles reversed. The “beast” in this rendition is Taren, a truly brave and heroic young woman who bears the scars of her heroism. Bruce McCullough, an overly handsome leading-man actor of Scottish descent, is the “beauty”, being fawned over by every female in town. Even Taren, though she tries to deny/hide it, is smitten by the sheer presence of the seemingly perfect man. Despite the outwardly visible scars that Taren bears, Bruce sees only the true beauty within and seeks to bring her out of her shyness and into the light of his love. This story is an extremely romantic love story, one that the reader can’t help but fall into the trance of. Yes there are spankings, and yes there are sex scenes (tenderly described and erotically charged), but the beauty of the story is the relationship that develops between two very engaging people. If you enjoy well written romances, with a penchant for some sexual excitement, this book is for you. I, for one, found it thoroughly enjoyable and extremely satisfying. Bruce McCullough was a sexy, (voted the sexiest by the public for many years) built, large Irish movie star that was to lead in a Western. That’s how he came to be at Taran and her brother Sam’s ranch to learn all he could about riding horses and working a ranch. Taran had scars from a childhood fire. The scars went deeper than the surface though, peoples stares and whispered words very hurtful and defining. But Bruce saw the woman beneath those scars and fell hard for her. Imagine the problem she’d have believing that. Then imagine Carolyn Faulkner wrote the book. Then grab a copy. You won’t be disappointed. I voluntarily reviewed and advance reader copy of this book.

Taren was disfigured when she saved her younger brother in a house fire. She knows her face is scarred and when Bruce McCullough comes to town for some hints on ranching for his next blockbuster movie, she can't even begin to accept that Bruce would be interested in her. He's the beauty and she's the beast. That's when the sparks and the spankings begin to fly! A wonderful story about the value of love and self worth. Beauty’s Beast is a really unconventional story, but a good story nevertheless. Taren was burned as a child when she saved her brother from a fire – but when Bruce, a famous actor, comes to stay at her ranch, he has no problems looking beyond the scars the inadequacy that she feels, and seeing the wonderful woman she is. She doesn’t make it easy for him, but eventually his charm and his assertiveness win her over; as well as her desire for the loving and spankings he gives her. Both are really likable characters, and I enjoyed the story as I have enjoyed other books written by Carolyn Faulkner.

I really liked this book. It's not like most of Carolyn Faulkners other books, which I also really like. It's much more of a love story with a feel good vibe to it along with some great sex and spankings. I always look forward to her books and am never let down

I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book. What are yummy book. Taren and her brother let Bruce McCullough, who is a famous Scottish actor, stay with them while he's in their town. He takes one look at Taren and knows that she is his woman. It takes a little longer for Taren to figure out why a beautiful man would ever want her. Bruce is a strong dominant man who believes in treasuring his woman, but also disciplining her when necessary. This is a great romance. Not that long of a book, but really good.
