Overview

Because of Him by Terri E. Laine

Past and present intertwine with light and dark to tell a story ...Because of Him

Something inside me fiercely craves normal.
Sheltered all my life and taught to be afraid, I want to be bold, fearless.
Up until now I've kept myself and my heart safe.
Tade Astor, a guy so hot he steals my breath away, jeopardizes it all.

He isn't the kind of guy to give up on what he wants--me.
He's determined to prove my safe world is missing something--him.
Even though he may not be the cocky guy I assumed him to be...
He's definitely not the guy I should give my heart to.
But each time I see him, he becomes harder to resist.
I want to be brave and give him a chance... though it might come back to haunt me.

***At the heart of Because of Him is a love story. But due to certain sensitive topics, it might not be suitable for all readers.

Because of Him is a gritty, yet thoughtful story. It isn't just one thing. It is a melding of so many different emotions and topics. It was spun perfectly. You will enjoy reading about real life topics, being on the edge of your seat from the suspense and the love. It all mixes perfectly between dark topics and lighter ones. It does cover tough topics so heed the warning if you aren't comfortable reading about them. This New Adult genre book is told in a dual POV and is a complete standalone. I look forward to reading more of the author's books since this my first experience reading one of her books.

I’m a new reader of Terri E. Laine, but the blurb and the cover especially drew me in to the book. Once I’d opened it, there was no going back from this thrilling romantic story. It’s a mix of dark and light, from both characters and I was hooked from the first word. There’s a world of mystery in here, you’re not sure who is who for a while, as the story has some flashbacks to the past. Reagan and Tade are quite a pair, both hiding their true selves and their murky past from everyone. There’s layers upon layers to them that get revealed the longer you read. But deep down it’s a gritty heartfelt tale filled with a lot of twists and turns so expertly penned you just have to keep flipping a page. One more page, one more chapter and then I’ll go to bed. I told myself that over and over until there was no more to read. The secondary cast of characters supported the story equally as well as Tade and Reagan did and made you want to know more about them too. I’m sure you’ll agree with me once you have your own copy.

Holy cow, this book was completely unexpected! It was a little darker than I thought it would be but completely sucked me in from the beginning. I read it all in a day because I couldn't put it down. The story had a lot of twists and turns and at the end I thought to myself, "What a ride!" The writing is beautiful and the story is different than others I've read. I was completely lost in Tade and Reagan's story. Well done, well done!
