Overview

In her twenties, Victoria (Interview Girl) signed up to volunteer for a month at an orphanage in Africa. She had no relative interest in Africa, poverty, development economics, health care, foreign aid, or African history when she left for her trip. During her time in Africa, she met a girl and from meeting her and learning her story, Victoria came back to Chicago changed. Her rendezvous with this gal was a very brief moment in both of their lives, but she found that she couldn't forget the young African. Victoria discovered that she could not ignore the misery that billions of people throughout the world experience.

This book details the story of how and why she decided to found InterviewGirl.com and the Interview Girl Foundation. It is a story that makes us believe that all humans on Earth are connected by an invisible thread. Victoria's narrative proves how meeting one person, experiencing a certain something, or traveling somewhere new can radically alter our world. She challenges us to reconsider our engagement with the world and her ultimate challenge for humanity is for us to create a world where every human is treated with dignity. This book reveals that it is possible to eliminate some of the world's biggest miseries, such as AIDS, poverty, and human trafficking by harnessing the power that lies inherent within civilization's oldest communication system : stories.
