About the Author

LISA J. SPRINGSTEEL is a twenty-year veteran of the fashion industry who has worked for luxury design firms such as Ralph Lauren and Marc Jacobs, and apparel powerhouses Phillips-Van Heusen and Limited Brands in a variety of capacities, from fashion design to global fabric sourcing, research, and development. Her experience extends to the media world, where she covered New York Fashion Week runway shows, interviewed top designers, and wrote numerous magazine and newspaper articles on fashion, beauty, and health. She has been featured in the Sean Combs MTV documentary, If I Were King and on America Live with Megyn Kelly on Fox News.

I loved reading this fascinating and informative book on how to become a fashion designer. The author not only answers the million questions a fashion design student might ask but she has organized them in an easy to find, beautifully illustrated manner. The interviews with well-known designers are dynamic and give the reader personal insights into the designers' individual journeys so the design student learns how not to make the same mistakes. The dynamic fashion illustrations on almost every page are detailed and extremely informative. I enjoyed reading the author's personal comments on her journey in the field as it adds a bit of intimacy. This book is the perfect one for any student who is thinking about, or pursuing fashion design as a career and I highly recommend it as well, to anybody with one iota of interest in Fashion.
