The dreaded friend-zone... The last place I ever want to be with college basketball God, Jake LaShae. I am losing my mind trying to figure out what this gorgeous and confident man wants from me. I need to break through his walls. What is it about me that makes him not go there? What am I lacking? When a mind-blowing betrayal knocks the wind out of me, and I think I can't feel any lower...Brody stumbles into my path-barefoot no less, and sexy as hell. His direct and mouth-watering swagger is a breath of fresh air. The feelings this man gives me are like nothing I've ever experienced. But Brody has a past. A past that makes it nearly impossible for him to trust me and let us become us in whatever capacity that may be. Just when Brody and I truly connect, just when I think that finding my soul-mate in college isn't a total joke, Jake comes back into my life...and messes things up...possibly for good.

Becoming Us came highly recommended by my sister/blogging partner in crime so I was so stoked to finally get round to reading it! I was quickly caught up in the whirlwind that was Finley's story and I found myself turning the pages faster and faster as I became more than a little bit addicted. I'm not going to lie, I may have got a little TOO into the story at times but hey that's part of the fun of reading... Being transported into another world far away from your own. I absolutely loved Finley and Brody... In my opinion they are the perfect example of college romance, it's not always easy and clean cut but would love be worth it if it was easy? I was so invested with these characters that their heartache became my own!! There is a 'slight' cliffhanger... I say slight because you can get your hands on A Broken Us (the second book) as soon as you're finished with this ;) I am now a Daws ADDICT and proud!! :D

Clever, and well written Favorite Quotes: “This silent game of flirting we’ve been playing for nearly a month now is the epitome of the word bittersweet.  Bitter because we don’t speak – sweet because I don’t ever want it to stop.” “Now I, on the other hand, am going to end up married to a gay man.  My vajayjay will shrivel up and die because it won’t be properly serviced.  I’ll die alone with my fifty cats, my sewing machine, and one fiercely designed moo-moo.” “’Was that a Dexter reference?’ he asks, with a deadly serious expression.  ‘Or do you simply know what a dark passenger is because you are truly possessed?’” “Okay, he hasn’t said a word to me since you guys went into the other room.  Now first thing he says is that I’m a beautiful eater.  Honestly, Fin, if Brody is this weird, I have serious fears for your taste in men.” “I don’t need you to be perfect.  I just need you to be mine.  It’s okay for us not to be perfect.” “There is always time for makeup sex.  You make time for makeup sex.  It says so in the title.” My Review: I had highlighted so many cleverly written passages as favorites, it was extremely difficult to narrow it down to a half dozen.  Amy Daws has mad skills.  Her humor is smart, and used in an agile manner.  Her writing is entertaining, absorbing, smooth, and addictive.  I could not willingly stop reading, and woke this morning with my kindle on my chest.  She aptly captured the feel, thrall, obsession, and devastation of college crushes and early love.  And her sensual scenes – smokin’ hawt.  Oh to be young and besotted again… how I miss those salad days!

4 stars After reading Book 1, A Broken Us, we get to go back and see where the very beginning of Fin and Brody.  Although this was book 2 in the series, I believe you could read it first before book 1.  It gives a lot of background to their characters and the character of US. As we see Fin away at college and learning to live her life on her own.  She has an insane crush on a guy, Jake LaShae.  He is a basketball star at the school and very handsome.  After running into him for weeks, Jake finally asked Fin to hang out.  As Fin thinks their relationship is becoming more than just friends, Jake has other ideas in mind; only to confuse Fin more. When Fin finally sees Jake for what he really is, she is completely done with him.  Enter Brody and with no shoes at that.  Brody had a charisma about him that drew Fin to him.  Also like their souls knew each other.   The relationship that Fin and Brody start will finally become all consuming love story.  It is amazing how Amy is able to almost make the love that they have for each other another character.  This story will have you falling in love with Fin and Brody.  But there are ups and downs as in any relationship so have the tissues ready.   And make sure to read A Broken Us for another glimpse into the lives of Fin and Brody.

After reading A Broken Us and falling in love with Finley and Brody's story, I was eager to learn of how they meet and fell in love. Becoming Us gives readers a realistic taste of how easily love can be earned and lost with foolish mistakes our of youth. While I was uncertain of who's side I was one after reading A Broken Us, I am truly a Team Brody member once I finished Daws' latest book. If Finley was someone I would meet in real life, I don't think I would be a big fan of hers. She makes decisions quick without thinking of others and really needs to grow up. Brody is someone that you just can't help but love. A man who knows what he wants and doesn't let outside pressures run his life. If you've every struggled with being "good enough" in a relationship, I highly recommend you read the Becoming Us.

Becoming us was a brilliant prequel to A broken Us. It took me through the lives of Fin and Jake, as well as those close to them. The main characters are at the stage in their lives where they are unsure of what they want, still a bit on the the crazy uni fun stage and very attracted to each other. I love that the story is written in a way that I actually feel as though I am seeing the story through their eyes. Every detail, every thought (even the funny ones) is given to you, but it isn’t drab- it is very much the opposite, as I feel alive and ready to pounce Jake myself. For those out of uni, it gives you a glimpse back to the kind of person we were in our youth, wild, crazy and out for a good time. However, we watch as both Fin and Jake grow and become trusting, loving adults – we literally feel and see through the window of their lives, as they fall in love. Amy  Daws has written a fantastically real, emotional read, but is it real love? We see the entrance of Brody! Will Fin choose a lover she's grown close to, one that has betrayed her, or the one that feels right?  I LOVED reading as Fin and Jake grew together, fell apart, Brody entered and Fin questioned everything she thought she knew of love. It was raw, gritty, funny and really represented a lot of the issues in a relationship, especially at that age. It was great to see Brody, yes THE Brody enter into the story :). It makes the story even more emotional to know what happens in A Broken Us. I was completely addicted to the story, sitting on the edge of my seat and Fin and Brody created something. built on such a strong love that it seems unbreakable, the kind of love we dream of. I felt a part of this story. It was written so well that it seemed real. It was addicting, hilarious, enraging and heart-warming – everything I could ever want in a love story and more. This book is brilliant! I highly recommend it and the whole London Lovers series. I can’t wait to see more from Daws- I foresee some epic love stories!
