To predictable, the characters were very childish. Will s character was not believable.

Before I Ever Met You is a heartwarming tale of two people unlucky in love who find comfort with each other even though all the odds are stacked against them. Our hero, Will, is a 40 something ,film something-or-other who was dealt a seriously bad hand when it came to the end of his first marriage. If there are awards given for "most effed up way to end a marriage" his ex-wife would totally win. When Wills business partner (and co-owner of their film company) hires his 25 year old daughter, Jackie, to be Wills assistant it's insta-lust and the sparks fly. Jackie has also been dealt a seriously awful hand in life and taking this job at her father's film company is her chance at turning her life around for herself and her son. The banter between Jackie and the other girls at the office is possibly my favorite part of this read. Yes, the love scenes are super steamy and the romance is very sweet, but the way these girls talk about their boss together cracked me up and held the most memorable moments of this book to me. Though the age gap between the two main characters is large it doesn't feel like a big deal as you read the story and the fact that Jackie is hooking up with her boss seems to be the bigger issue. There are a few hot-but-suspenseful moments that take place in the office that kept me feeling anxious because I was so worried they were going to be busted. I give Before I Ever Met You 4 out of 5 Krissy's Stars. Although this book is a sweet and sexy read, it fell a little flat for me. I enjoyed reading it and liked all of the characters but it didn't leave me super wowed. I think anyone who enjoys boss/employee romance's will really love this story! Jackie left her posh home young and wild. She lost touch with her family and made some bad decisions. Now she's returned as a twenty-something single mom trying to get her life back on track. She's a pretty good person and tries to be a great mom for her son. Will is Jackie's father's business partner. His life had some bumps not too far in the past so he's settling also. He hires Jackie to be his assistant. Will is a wonderful man. He doesn't trash talk his ex even if he might have a reason to do so. He's 100% behind Jackie in every step she makes. He encourages and stands up for her. He loves her son and steps right into the perfect father-figure role before even making any moves toward mom. Will is the dreamboat every woman wants inside and out. If you're in the mood for something sweet, Before I Ever Met You may be right up your alley.

New author, really good read. Wasn't too predictable. Loved Will, older, mature, good-looking man, in comes Jackie, a little too much angst. The story keeps you turning pages, I only wished Jackie had a little less angst towards the ending of the book. LOVETOREAD

What a lovely story this is. Stayed up way past my bedtime for this one. It was worth every bleary-eyed, book hangover moment the next day!

A sweet read. The characters are easy to like and to feel their emotions.

I couldn't wait for this book.....and when I got my hands on it, I read it in one day. It is definitely on of Halle's lighter books. It is a forbidden/big age gap romance with swoon worthy hero. Will is the ultimate book boyfriend! He does not have one misstep in the book......he also lays his heart right out there for the heroine. With the way he was betrayed in the prologue, one wouldn't blame him for being guarded regarding Jackie. But he doesn't let his past define what he has with Jackie and I love that about him. It's pretty rare in romance books where the H just says what's in his heart right away. One reviewer said it was a lushly romantic book and I couldn't agree more. The heroine has her issues with the past......parents/ex. And as much as I liked her, she did bug me too with all her wavering/ push-pull emotions and actions toward Will. He deserved better. As for Jackie's father, he was ate times a jerk but in the end he grew on me esp with how he handled the affair. Regardless of the romance, it must have been so weird for him......and he did a good job protecting his daughter and coming to terms with everything. A side note.......I did get tired of all the name dropping regarding brands, etc.

This book is amazing! What a beautiful love story about two broken people! The story has the forbidden love aspect, best friend’s & business partner’s daughter, office romance, older man/younger woman, boss/assistant! Whew scotching! Will is 41 and has returned home to Vancouver after his marriage of 15 years’ dissolves. His wife told him on his 39th birthday that she was pregnant with another man’s child and she wanted a divorce. Will was devastated. He tried for 2 years to stay in LA, but he just couldn’t do it anymore. Jackie is now working for her father as Will’s assistant. She always thought Will was handsome, but the last time she saw him she was 15! Now at 25 she can appreciate what an attraction and distraction working for him will be. There is a connection when they meet. Will is so smooth and he sweeps Jackie off her feet. He calls her his dream girl. Swoon! The secondary characters are a riot! Her office manager and the receptionist definitely kept things jumping! There is family drama as Jackie has a strained relationship with her parents and worries her relationship with Will, if it got out, could ruin them both. Her son Ty is a delightful addition to the cast of characters. If you want a sweet, sexy, swoon-worthy romance, then pick up this book! You won’t regret it.

Will and Jackie are both in need of a second chance. He has just moved back to Vancouver after a nasty divorce and she has just moved into her parent's house with her 7-year-old son, Ty. Jackie is now set to work as Will's assistant and her dad is co-owner of the company, along with Will. They both need a friend in the beginning and sparks fly from there. Will doesn't play games and waits for Jackie to give the signal that she wants more. Their 16-year age difference becomes apparent at points in this story. Jackie is always second-guessing herself and others and I was kind of disappointed in her at times. Will has the baggage from his ex-wife's transgressions and betrayal and he is able to go all in with Jackie. She uses a bunch of excuses but it all boiled down to her being scared to risk her heart. Will goes above and beyond to give her the space and time she needs to the point of hurting himself. I was not a fan of Jackie using excuses to not have to deal with her feelings. It got old, especially in light of the fact that she had a child that she took care of basically on her own. I liked how Will stood by Jackie and was willing to risk it all for her. The ending was well done and, although her father was not a good man or role model for most of the book, I liked how he pushed them to decide what they really wanted. He knew Jackie needed to stand up for herself and, though I didn't like how he went about it at times, I liked how he knew what she needed at the end. A good story and a quick, easy read. It was nice to read about a gentleman who had no ulterior motives and was true to his word. A refreshing change for me.

I couldn't get enough of this book, more specifically, of Will, from the first page I was totally hooked, his story begins with such heartbreak that it was impossible to not feel empathetic and to ultimately wish that he finds happiness again. I’ve said this a bunch of times about Karina Halle but I want to say it again, she is a master at writing heartfelt stories with characters that you can easily imagine in the real world. The dialogue feels real as well as the interactions between the characters. I love when she writes this genre because it makes me so so happy, I always get lost in the story and in her words, she can also write some pretty sexy scenes and that makes her books to feel very well balanced and at least to me, that much more enjoyable. If you’re thinking about reading this book, please do, you will not regret it and I also urge you to give her other books a chance, because if you like this one I guarantee you are going to love all of her work.

Be prepared to swoon super hard! And we get another book that will floor you to the core. Author Karina Halle gives us her signature story of love that is full of words that come alive off the pages. This story of Will and Jackie won my heart. I felt I couldn't read fast enough yet I did not want the story to end because there were soo many things I was feeling while reading. I felt love, I felt heartbreak, I felt sexy, and I felt the chemistry that Will & Jackie had with each other. Loved this story line and the heartfelt moments that made my heart swell! This book is an excellent standalone that will give you a slow decadent burn that will burst your cherries into a flaming brulee that you will savor for a lifetime!

There are some authors who not only speak volumes to you but break you into in emoji and fan-girl squeals dialogues. Karina Halle is one of my very few authors who evokes such emotions out of me when I read. This book SPECIFICALLY threw me into happy tears… often! This book is not sad (sure it has got some sad real life moments) but what I’m talking about is that moment when all of a sudden you are reading and a stray tear just rolls down your left cheek, then another on your right and you are sitting like a fool on the train trying to pretend you are not crying during a busy commute rush hour. Thanks for that KH! This standalone goodness is about a journey of a 25-year-old single mother who is trying to get her life on track after making some questionable life choices. I totally sympathized with Jackie. She is a totally vulnerable, old soul who starts over with help of her parents after she has no choice. Her parents are cool… enough… I still have some grumbles about some of the things they do even if done with good intentions. However, I will forgive them as they put her right in the path of the slightly *cough* much *cough* silver-fox status (but not really he’s 41ish) old soul Will McAlister… seriously someone make me an old fashioned STAT! Oooh my heart is completely given to Will… Makes me mad that KH has made up this completely amazing human who DOES. NOT. EXIST!!! How is that even fair. He is a fantastic boss. Complete sweetheart. Loves and adopts pets. Basically, takes Jackie and her adorable shy kid under his wing. Pretty sure there were ZERO things I could say he did wrong in this book in my opinion. In fact, the only time I was frustrated was with Jackie. But girlfriend got herself in check real quick thankfully so I didn’t have to make my iPad sailing through the air in frustration. Also, can we talk about the H-O-T factor that is in this book. The chemistry and sexiness when you put the two of them together was so explosive… like a Samsung Note 7 lol. Overall, this book hit all my favorite tropes and I hope you will pick up your copy and love you some KH goodness.
