This book assumes you have played a little fiddle before. The CD included will be much appreciated by the newbie. The author plays each note in the different scales so you can get an idea for where your fingers will go. It is also recorded in stereo allowing you to turn down either the accompaniment or the fiddle depending on your needs. The text portion of the workbook offers pithy instruction on slurs, grace notes and other embellishments which became more comprehensible as I worked through the book and gained more knowledge in other areas. If you are motivated and can't afford lessons this is a great book to begin with. The author presented a book that is aimed at a specific level of player and has not veered off into materials too difficult or too rudimentary for the intended audience. Nice Shot Lieberman!
