Beguiling Bridget by Rachel Van Dyken, Mark Nelson

Driven to distraction by the redhead across the room, Anthony Benson barely hears the terms of his brother’s challenge before agreeing to them.

No matter. It will be easy. Viscount Maddox has never had any problem impressing the ladies. And four weeks is more than enough time to win over this so obviously neglected wallflower.

But things are never as easy as they seem.

The lady has lofty aspirations. And not one of them includes love or marriage. Especially not with an arrogant and self-assured playboy like the viscount. No matter how attractive he may be.

About the Author

Leah Sanders is the middle child in a family of seven children. As a true middle child she went from high school in Alaska to college in Florida, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in secondary education from Southeastern University. She also holds a Master's degree in educational technology from Boise State University.

She makes her home in Idaho with her husband and three children. By day she teaches English in a mid-dle school. But after the kids are in bed, she will most likely be typing away on her laptop while sitting in her favorite spot on the couch.

Rachel loves to read almost as much as she loves to write. She resides in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and her dog Sir Winston Churchill. Although she loves to write contemporary romance, her heart will always be with historical and regency romances. Glittering balls and dangerous rakes hold her captivated like chocolate and Star-bucks. You can follow Rachel on her blog, Twitter, or Facebook.

A perfect diversion and a great vacation read. From the opening scene, the reader knows the games have just begun. It is a great sequel to Waltzing with the Wallflower. If you are looking for a humorous and entertaining book you have found it in Beguiling Bridget. I am not sure which of these scenes are my favorite: painting his portrait, the book store, or the fencing scene. Rachel and Leah create characters that you fall in love with and they throw in a couple quirky characters to round out the cast. These are two authors to watch.

Cute Love Story - G rating. Don't know if it was worth $1.99 for 121 pages, but I gave it 4 stars, because it had a different story line, had some twists and was entertaining. (ljb)

This book is probably my least favorite of all Rachel Van Dyken's books. It does not seem to be as funny as the rest and is a really slow read and it is too much like the first. The only reason why I gave it 3 stars is because it is cheap

Rachel Van Dyken and Leah Sanders are at it again. This time following Lord Anthony (Ambrose's twin brother) and Lady Bridget who was sent to her Aunt's house for the season. Bridget doesn't want to get married, she wants to lead a life of her own not dependent on any man especially one as self absorbed as Anthony. Anthony is convinced that any woman would jump at the opprotunity to be with him until he meets Bridget. Bridget gives Anthony the cold shoulder and Anthony is more than intrigued by the challenge and of course there is the bet (and strawberries)! Read the wonderful story of Anthony and Bridget it is just as good (if not a little better) than the first one Waltzing With The Wallflower!

Author: Rachel VanDyken and Leah Sanders Published By: Astraea Press Age Recommended: Adult Review By: Arlena Dean Book Blog For: GMTA Series # 2 Rating: 5 Review: "Beguiling Bridget" was a second book in a series for these two authors which continues on from 'Waltzing with Wallflowers Regency Series.' I think you will get a little more out of this novel if you have read the first one where in this novel you will get a good entertaining and humorous feel of "Beguiling Bridget." We find that since Cordelia and Ambrose are now married...Anthony doesn't even realize that he has 'he agrees to a bet (and strawberries) that may mean the death of him.' Bridget is a spitfire who distrust all men and promises never to wed. Do we find the heroine fencing for their suitors? Well now things will change when the other twin, Anthony comes on the scene and bumbled his way into Bridget's heart. I found this novel humorous and the characterizations were well developed making "Beguiling Bridget" a intriguing read. I thought "Beguiling Bridget" was well written short sweet romance novel that kept my attention till the end that I would recommend as a good read.

Bridget was fun and had a strong sense of character making her intriguing as a woman during that time period. Her Bluestocking nature led her to be more independent and not just a husband hunter. Anthony’s character was more appealing in the first book with his rakish character whereas in this second book the issue of falling in love has left him awkward and clumsy to be around. The plot as a whole needed a good summary edit. It was a little too drawn out and seemed stretched in places. Note: I am reviewing this book for Storm Goddess Reviews.
