Book two of two in The Belonging Duet

I tried resisting him. I fought to ensure history wouldn’t repeat itself. In the end, Jackson and I knew he would win. He broke down my walls, obliterated every excuse, and made me love him against all odds.

Then he shattered my heart into thousands of pieces.

I can’t let him back in. It was hard enough surrendering my heart the first time. If he hurts me again, I’ll never survive. No matter what he thinks, we’re beholden to our past.

After spending months away from her husband while he was deployed, reading and writing was her escape from the loneliness.

Both her maternal and paternal grandmothers were librarians, which only intensified her love of reading. After years of writing short stories, she couldn't ignore the call to finish her debut novel, Beloved. Her alpha Navy SEALs are broken, beautiful, and will steal your heart.

From the beginning of this book, I found myself turning pages like a maniac to find out what was going to happen. After the way the previous book ended, I had to find out what happened next. Once things settled down a bit with Catherine and Jackson, reality sets in and her stubbornness and his refusal to talk about anything comes to a head when a secret about Jackson's past comes out and Catherine is left to deal with the fallout. I was practically screaming at both of them for different reasons to get out of their own heads and just talk at some parts, but the journey they took was one that was necessary. And Catherine held her head high during the whole thing. She is definitely one of my favorite Corinne heroines for just that reason.

Corinne Michaels did a great job completing the story of Jackson and Catherine. I highly recommend this book. Both are broken souls from prior events and it's difficult for each of them to re-visit their broken events and trust others with their broken secrets. It's hard to be vulnerable and completely giving to the other person in one's life sometimes. It's also a great thing when a person is so giving and understand how far a person will go to keep their "soul mate" in their life. Ms. Michaels does it again with thought provoking romantic rollercoaster. Kudos to her.

A Review of Beholden by Corinne Michaels Two broken hearts - 5+++++ stars This book picks up where the last one left off. Jackson has been hit by sniper bullets and it looks like his life is hanging in the balance. Mark was with him, so he calls Catherine and she drops everything to fly to Germany to be with Jackson. I never had to live the military life, even though I was briefly engaged to an Army man when I was a lot younger. I thought I was ready for that life and the many ups and downs that the loved ones of those that serve are called to deal with. I have known several women that are married to military men and I have cried with them and laughed with them as well, but none of us really know the hell that these women (and even men) live with on a daily basis when our guys and gals are out 'there' keeping us all safe and secure. Catherine and Jackson have that once in a lifetime love that you never expect to get. Even though he knew love before and dealt with the guilt of losing her, the love that he has for Catherine is sooo much deeper. The pain that they both feel over the lies and betrayal are deeply felt and well written. Sometimes love just isn't enough to get you past the hard parts and you have to let the other person go in order to truly learn what love and sacrifice means. The parts that really stuck with me in this story was the part where Jackson was in the hospital and could hear everything that was going on around him but he was paralyzed and couldn't respond. I know that when my Mother was in the process of passing, I wondered if she could hear us and it gives me comfort to think that she did and that she was okay. Ms. Michaels has a way of tearing our hearts apart and then putting them back together with new understanding and appreciation for what we have. I have such deep respect for all those families that serve our great country, whether they are overseas or here at home, holding down the rest of us. May God watch over each and everyone of them. GREAT Storyline! **Honest review voluntarily provided for purchased product.**

WOW! If you thought the first book was an emotional read this ones gonna blow your socks off! The first book ended on a cliffhanger and this second story puts you right back into the action. The prologue gets you going immediately but to be honest you could skip it to avoid a small spoiler if you wanted to go into the story with no pre-conceived ideas. It might be cliche but this story definitely takes you on an emotional rollercoaster, I think I might of fallen in love with Jackson even more in this story. He's so damaged and again at times you just want to shout and shake him but he comes good in the end so he can do no wrong in my eyes! Catherine is super strong this time around, even at her most upsetting and emotionally traumatic times she holds strong, sticks to her guns and fights for her own worth. I loved that she put her own needs first, it was time for her to be fought for and Jackson did that in spades. I loved the epilogue, it was a perfect ending to their tale.

I'm so glad this book was waiting when I finished the first. I couldn't put any of them down. True love stores, steamy sex. I love the characters and can't wait for the next ones to come out.

I fell in love with Catherine and Jackson in Beloved and honestly didn't think that this could be more emotional, sexy, hot or intense since Beloved was all of those things and more...this was soooo amazing...I was not very happy with how Beloved ended (it is a cliff be prepared)! I was so very happy that I had this book and could start it right away.  Have your tissues ready as you will need them..this book is so very emotional.  It broke my heart and I found myself loving Jackson more that I thought I sat reading this I found myself angry at Catherine for pushing Jackson away but he was determine to have her, keep her and prove that she is worthy of his love..that they belong together that they complete each other and though they both feel they are broken that they can love each other and be happy.  Their story is raw, sexy, erotic and once again so emotional and not without struggle!  I didn't think I would get through this book with my emotions in tact..and I was right I did not..I laughed in spots..sobbed and shed real tears along with being teary eyed...but most of all as I read on and finished this book I had a huge smile thinking I can not wait for the next book by Corinne Michaels.  I am so happy that I took a chance on Beloved.

She wrote every detail that would make you cry and feel joy. The love Jackson & Catherine have is so strong you get it with good bumps...I would recommend Beloved & Beholden to everyone.. I was so upset I had to wait so long for the next book, but it was well worth the wait. I love Catherine and Ashton's relationship the most! I always love when two characters have such a strong friendship, it's almost better than the romance happening. Must READ! My heart broke with the heart wrenching scene with Catherine and Ashton. I cried and cried for them, it felt like it was personally happening to me. I also loved the new assistant in Cali. The story threw me for a loop and I wasn't expecting everything that happened! Can't wait to read what's next from Corinne Michaels.

I was a crying mess reading this book! I kept saying - Not Jackson, please! After reading Beloved, I waited for this second book impatiently. Jackson was badly injured ... I could not believe that Corinne Michaels would kill him off... leave him disabled? Who knows what lurks in the dark recesses of an author's mind! I just had to find out what happened next! These two lovers have been through so much during their short courtship. So many painful events from their past have left a mark on both of them. I kept wishing that somehow they would find a way to a happily ever after because they both deserved it. This sequel is full of surprises. Some good, a few not so good. Let us just say that Neil and Piper both need a serious personality and character intervention! Catherine is just too nice for her own good. I was half expecting a "throw down" between them. Ah! But our author used her magic pen to provide us with some memorable scenes where our Catherine remains a lady but sticks the knife deep in their dark souls! Masterful! This series - Beloved and Beholden - will definitely go down on my list as a series to be re-read in the future. Memorable books that are well written and have a tight plot line are worth savoring more than once!

Loved the hero, not the heroine so much. I really wanted to love this book especially after the cliffhanger from "Beloved". Unfortunately I didn't. Catherine made no sense to me. She has abandonment issues yet she kept pushing Jackson away. And don't even get me started on her constant crying. I wanted to tell Jackson to run away, run away quickly. A few editing issues: Officers do not enlist, they are commissioned. Naval officers do not wear blue. San Clemente to LA in 40 minutes?!?!?! Are you serious. Would have made more sense to be in one of the LA beach cities, not south Orange County.
