About the Author

Corinne Michaels is the New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal Bestselling author of The Salvation Series (Beloved, Beholden, Consolation, Conviction & Defenseless) and Say You'll Stay. She's an emotional, witty, sarcastic, and fun loving mom of two beautiful children. Corinne is happily married to the man of her dreams and is a former Navy wife. After spending months away from her husband while he was deployed, reading and writing was her escape from the loneliness.
Both her maternal and paternal grandmothers were librarians, which only intensified her love of reading. After years of writing short stories, she couldn't ignore the call to finish her debut novel, Beloved. Her alpha heroes are broken, beautiful, and will steal your heart.

I have to agree with another review that said they loved the hero but not the herioine. Cat is immature at best. She is all over the place with her emotions and frankly like watching a fly buzzaround your head, annoying to say the least. She's so judgemental, never giving Jackson the benefit of the doubt or even willing to let him speak to her. For someone supposedly in love with this guy she is the epitome if selfish. Everything is about her and her previous relationship issues, which she is undoubtly the cause of. She's flakey to say the least and high maintinance is an understatement. Men usually run and dont look back from women like that. Its nit worth the headache. As a woman I would run from an aquaintance like that!

Corinne Michaels delivers laughter, love, and tears with a story that will stay with you many days, weeks, and months down the road. Jackson Cole is a complex man. He has a lot of secrets and has been through hell and back during his military career and while running his private security business. He has lost several friends and fellow soldiers and blames himself for it. When his best friend Aaron dies Jackson loses his mind and has to go bring him home. Jackson pushes Catherine away just as she finally opened herself up to love again. He walks away and does it in the name of protecting her and himself from heartbreak. This part of the book nearly destroyed me. I was sobbing like a baby. No this can’t be happening and just when you feel like you can breathe again tragedy strikes and it is Jackson this time who is fighting for his life. This is only one bump in the road though. This story takes another plot twist that rips the rug out from under you. My head was spinning. Corinne shows us what it is like to have the love you need from very close friends when you feel like your world has come to an end and you are trying to pick up the pieces. Gretchen and Ashton become Catherine’s rock and between the tears Corinne has me laughing at the girls silly antics and their made up vocabulary with words like “twunt”. That is so something that my two best friends and I would have made up. The bond between Catherine, Ashton, and Gretchen reminded me of my two best friends of 20+ years and what life was like way back when before kids and messy divorces and perhaps that is why I connected so much with this story. I really enjoyed the flip-flop of this story as well. Normally the female heroine leaves everything behind to run off into the sunset with the alpha male hero. Not this time. Corinne does something a little different and I have to say that the conclusion of Catherine and Jackson’s story was quite refreshing. I also adored the epilogue. You really get to see Catherine and Jackson and their witty banter years down the road along with Catherine’s antics to drive Jackson crazy. I loved their happily ever after. Once again I reiterate I was engrossed in Beloved and Beholden for four days from the minute the kids went to bed until at least midnight each night. I had to see what was going to happen next. The chemistry was scorching hot between Catherine and Jackson and they had so many hurdles to jump and obstacles to overcome that I could not put these books down until I literally passed our from exhaustion. Thanks again for letting me ready your stories Corinne. I am really looking forward to reading whatever you have in store for us next.

Corinne Michaels did a great job completing the story of Jackson and Catherine. I highly recommend this book. Both are broken souls from prior events and it's difficult for each of them to re-visit their broken events and trust others with their broken secrets. It's hard to be vulnerable and completely giving to the other person in one's life sometimes. It's also a great thing when a person is so giving and understand how far a person will go to keep their "soul mate" in their life. Ms. Michaels does it again with thought provoking romantic rollercoaster. Kudos to her.

A Review of Beholden by Corinne Michaels Two broken hearts - 5+++++ stars This book picks up where the last one left off. Jackson has been hit by sniper bullets and it looks like his life is hanging in the balance. Mark was with him, so he calls Catherine and she drops everything to fly to Germany to be with Jackson. I never had to live the military life, even though I was briefly engaged to an Army man when I was a lot younger. I thought I was ready for that life and the many ups and downs that the loved ones of those that serve are called to deal with. I have known several women that are married to military men and I have cried with them and laughed with them as well, but none of us really know the hell that these women (and even men) live with on a daily basis when our guys and gals are out 'there' keeping us all safe and secure. Catherine and Jackson have that once in a lifetime love that you never expect to get. Even though he knew love before and dealt with the guilt of losing her, the love that he has for Catherine is sooo much deeper. The pain that they both feel over the lies and betrayal are deeply felt and well written. Sometimes love just isn't enough to get you past the hard parts and you have to let the other person go in order to truly learn what love and sacrifice means. The parts that really stuck with me in this story was the part where Jackson was in the hospital and could hear everything that was going on around him but he was paralyzed and couldn't respond. I know that when my Mother was in the process of passing, I wondered if she could hear us and it gives me comfort to think that she did and that she was okay. Ms. Michaels has a way of tearing our hearts apart and then putting them back together with new understanding and appreciation for what we have. I have such deep respect for all those families that serve our great country, whether they are overseas or here at home, holding down the rest of us. May God watch over each and everyone of them. GREAT Storyline! **Honest review voluntarily provided for purchased product.**

WOW! If you thought the first book was an emotional read this ones gonna blow your socks off! The first book ended on a cliffhanger and this second story puts you right back into the action. The prologue gets you going immediately but to be honest you could skip it to avoid a small spoiler if you wanted to go into the story with no pre-conceived ideas. It might be cliche but this story definitely takes you on an emotional rollercoaster, I think I might of fallen in love with Jackson even more in this story. He's so damaged and again at times you just want to shout and shake him but he comes good in the end so he can do no wrong in my eyes! Catherine is super strong this time around, even at her most upsetting and emotionally traumatic times she holds strong, sticks to her guns and fights for her own worth. I loved that she put her own needs first, it was time for her to be fought for and Jackson did that in spades. I loved the epilogue, it was a perfect ending to their tale.

Definitely a must read! I couldn't put it down from the moment I started the first book. I actually even took my nook with me to work to read on my lunch break, which is such a tease. But I loved Jackson and Catherine's story. I loved the epilogue as it was how I pictured they would be. I most definitely recommend this two book series. I will be reading Marks story next. Followed by Natalie's.
