Overview

Tracey Smith needed an escape. Living in a council flat with her seven year old son and abusive boyfriend, her life was far from perfect. She needed a real man, someone big and strong who would worship the ground she walked on. Then she saw Shay Donovan's photograph. He was perfect, deep tan, huge muscles, rock solid six pack and come to bed eyes. He was all the inspiration she needed to start writing her erotic novel. It started out as pure fantasy but life can be stranger than fiction and she never dreamed it could set her free.

Meet the Author

My name is Clair Louise Coult, I live near Sheffield, England with my husband and 3 children. I'm a creative person at heart, if I'm not knitting, sewing, writing or taking photographs then I'm singing, playing my guitar or baking the best cupcakes in the world.I've been into alternative/indie music since I was 15 years old. I have 9 piercings, 1 tattoo and I'm always dyeing my hair silly colours. I'm a bit of a petrolhead, I love motor racing (especially F1) and I'm also a gadget geek. I live on the internet and I'm lost without my computer, tablet and phone. I love my family and friends, my pets, trees, Fender guitars, Japanese stuff and shoes. I really like shoes.

Lots of unnecessary f bombs. Good story that shows character developing a can do attitude after being beaten down for such a long time. Thought the s&m/erotica stuff was really bad, in poor taste and wastefully/gratuitously over the top. No sane abused woman would fantasize about such very painful things unless it directed to her abuser. Very pointless and distracting from the true story. Good story line - just too vulgar/raw. Would have liked to see main character reunite with her parents. Otherwise, it's a good abused women's hope and success story, i.e., there's happy light and love at the end of the painful road.

While I found the writing to be a bit sophomoric, the storyline was interesting. Being an avid reader, I did like that it's a fast read. As an American, I also enjoyed learning different British words and phrases.

I like the book and it's story line. It was a bit difficult in places because the writer wrote the book in an England or UK setting. So some of the terms were different than what I'm used to using when I talk. But the idea (or story line) was pretty good. I enjoyed the book. Read it in under 24 hours and it's approximately 450 pages. :-)

The main character kicks her partner out after being hit one too many times. I like that the scene of abuse was very minimal, just enough to set the facts. I enjoyed her journey of becoming herself again. There are a few editing mistakes, a comma missing here and there, but that may just be because the story is set in England and they do talk a bit differently than people in America do. She is quirky and very enjoyable.
